New CFA/SEM Heavy Tanker

Hi All,

Whilst procrastinating today found a new appliance by Skilled for CFA, mark Heavy Tanker. Some of the concepts look good, Like:

-Crew Deck access from crew cab
-4000L with spare 750L for spray protection
-Mack Dual Cab with 270Hp (mmmm nice!)
-Not sure about the GAAM 325 Pump, would prefer a 750gpm 3 stage!
-Reasonable locker layout, though would prefer aluminium roll down door!

What do they mean by "heavy" do you think? Does that refer to the 4000l capacity maybe? The 325gpm pump is a bit of a downer with all of that extra water to play with.

Probably just the CFA trying to catch up with us...Hope that doesn't offend anyone! Looks a bit like the newer 24P's! I think it's probably just the water volune thing, I see that the MFB in vic call there 4000 litre appliances Heavy, only guessing though!

Maybe heavy is the vehicle weight - the SEM sight also places a 1300ltr appliance as Heavy Duty Urban Pumper and alike.

NSWFB also have heavy pumpers - large valume tanks and serious pumps as do QFRS - very impressive.

QFRS state:  The Scania Heavy Pumper is designed to provide the full range of QFRS services, with the additional features of an increased on-board water supply and heavy duty road accident rescue equipment.

Maybe this is what we could put on the urban rural interface - for brigades with their own structural risk (high) and also rural risk (high)

Na - it's the day that the political BS is binned and the cfs hierarchy realise that we have in our primary response area a very high urban threat with shopping centre, schools and nursing homes and residents plus a large rural threat with hills face zone, scrub, scrub and scrub!!

Fancy more than one station having high risks!!!
Now maybe that could lead to some commonality in appliances as well
