type 2 is sufficient.

I'm not quite up on these Type 2's.  Can ou pls tell me why this would be as efficient as a scania type pumper??

Cheers...

Well said Firefrog.... There would be far more justification for non EMA brigades with large industrial risk to have decent pumpers. Why not make all CFS brigades in EMA situations rural/urban (rather than urban/rural), then the MFS might do something about manning etc and not rely on the CFS as much. This would also allow CFS to distribute funding further away from the urban fringes.

Im thinking the 14 maybe for Tea Tree Gully as a pager message i seen before said something about a CAFS demo.

And one of the new 14's is meant to have a CAFS pump

EMA has nothing to do with what appliances people get, all brigades SFEC's are based on their own area and not MFS area.

That might be true on paper but take a look around the state, it clearly is not the case.

and it shouldnt be!

For example a brigade is on the edge of the city and participates in EMA.  There area is completely rural therefore the SFEC says a rural 34 perhaps.

How can this brigade be expected to do COQ's in the nearby city without a pumper or 34P?  Its all well and good to only look at the brigades area but we are meant to be working together here.  We should be able to support each other!

I agree - so long as non ema high risk brigades get treated the same as ema. Why should an ema brigade with little area that helps SAMFS get two or three pumpers while the country cousins get 15-20 year old Hino 24/34 rural trucks to cover sometimes higher risk and higher value assets?????

As mentioned in another thread, the "un-named" Type 2 is currently at Happy Valley - just sitting in one of the bays, all locked up.  Fully kitted ready to go, but not.  No suggestion that it is intended to be there permanently (We can only hope). The question begs asking though...Why store it in Happy Valley's third appliance bay - the 14 has been renegated to the trailer shed, unless there is a hidden agenda.

Rumor has it, they will be kepping it and their 24p will be going to seaford
