Its good to hear that you are wanting to go up in a aircraft and work from the air during a fire PF... maybe contact your regional office and see when the next air attack supervisor course is being held

Or even better why not get your pilot's licence and become a fire bomber pilot that way you can work from the air and still be involved with fire supression

 nah I need to get my truck licence first.

Yeah might contact region when I finish the accreditation, I assume you can still be operational and be involved with air support.

Daaaaads stop crushing my liberties!

But to be serious, P F I think you may have to look at moving into IMT and higher level incident dealings to be able to go into air recon and the like.

I believe IMT and the like its just time served, a bit of rank and getting your name put forward onto courses.

Go do a AIIMS course and that way you will be on the books for when there is a spot going. most regions are always looking for members who have AIIMS,region 5 is trying to get two ICS teams up and running which will be great for our region...

Or do something hat no one thought of.....contact SES Central Region training officer and ask if you can join the 'Air Observers' course which nominations are closing this month.

You would need to have the 'air crew medical' form filled out & commit to flying along the coast with the UniSA Shark Spotter plane.

The air observers were also used to track Pt Pirie flood water threat, amongst other taskings.
