Rescue Me...
« on: February 21, 2006, 04:55:43 PM »
so, has anyone seen it? does anyone like it?

my girlfriend gave me the DVD set of season one, i liked it more than third watch... which its a lot like except that it cuts all the NYPD and EMS stuff out, mind you it still focus's more on sex than firefighting...

still nice to see some decent firefighting scenes.. course they love using the whole "back before 9/11" type line, which kinda gives ya the irrits after a while.

It was on air in America last year. I've got season 1 & 2 on DVD but have only just started watching them, it's not too bad but as you say it focuses more on the lives of the firees rather than the actual firefighting. I guess for non cranks thats probably what they want.

I saw a one off on channel 10 once a camera was allowed in the Blacktown station of the NSW Fire Brigades and that was quite intersting!! It had them going to structure fires, that big refinery fire a couple years back.

A reality show like that, "Motorway Patrol" but for the fire service from all round Australia would be good none of that fireflies crap.

If my brigade was like that one in the show for our population we would be doing 2000 calls a year  YEAH RIGHT :-P

I remember seeing a reality show that followed a fire brigade around.  Dunno what it was called though.

What was wrong with fireflies?? where else can you  drink, have sex, water your own drug crop but above all have a prego kit on a fire appliances.... nice to see that the RFS woke up and did not sign for a second show.. thank  god  it really did shoe the funside of belonging to a close knit brigade  or not.

Been a few Emergency Service related TV shows.. Funnily enough, the Kiwi MotorWay patrol was one of the most popular..

You may remember in the mid-late 90's..  Emergency 000   (Tried to do a Rescue 911 type job, but with all footage being real, no re-creations..)

There was Life-Flight.. Followed a NSW / QLD rescue chopper crew.

The Fiction TV series in the 90's..    FIRE  - based on NSW

Fireflies..   - Not such a good show.. lasted one season I think..

There was a fairly recent one which followed the MICA Paramedics... Can't recall the title..

Then all the others , like Blue Healers, etc etc...

Could get a good list going of emergency/police type TV shows:
Australian
All Saints
Flying Doctors
Water Rats
Police Rescue
Chopper Squad
Homicide
Stingers
Cop Shop
Bondi Rescue (that new surf life saving one)

Seems to be dominated by the Police ..... need some fire/ambulance influence I think

And of course the all important cameo appearances by our very own CFS in McLeods Daughters :-D
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to control it.

Dont forget EMERGENCY that was a great show back in the the days of ambos in the USA moving into firehouses but in LA they where firefighters trainned as paramedics and they had some great jobs.

An other good aussie show was MATLOCK AND SOLO ONE both good cop shows.....

Ah Chopper Squad - that brings back memories. I have tried to find it on the net but it seems tricky to track down. Nothing like mixing women, water and helicopters.
