Nah But I Saw The Weather Warning On The Pager Site, It Was It A Busy Day For Some I Would Guess.

GRN pager site detailed several CFS Units responded for fires during the afternoon. I believe they were small compared to the Bute fire.

SES Operations volunteers activated at 1640pm to take SES load from CFS OCO's by manning our own telephones. Calls coming into SES for damage in Port Augusta and other towns.

Calls handed back to CFS OCO's at approximately 2100.

So the CFS crews were busy.

believe SES operations are still in 60 waymouth st, however theyre admin is moving to level 10 44 waymouth??

on a brighter note; i have also heard on the grapevine that the OCOs are moving into a more modern/better layed out/more techo equipped op centre..

various reports put it anywhere between 100 - 150 hectares. Does any one know of the size of the fire at hawker around the same time?

Split the SES relocation to other government agencies to keep things tidy.

Region five had some 25 fires as a result of the lightning on that day and afew  more a couple of days later mainly in pine forest in wattle range group and parts of the mount.

seems lightning has played a part in more fires today in the south east, mid north and K.I. Might be a busy weekend (Hopes not!!!!)

There was lighting left right and center yesterday afternoon in the Wattle Range Division however most of this lighting was cloud-cloud and not cloud-ground

But tomorrow and Sunday look like 2 perfect days for dry lighting storms which could wreak havoc around the South East in terms of starting fires

Looks like another band of lightning is building up on the eastern side of the ranges and moving out towards the Mallee now. Could be another interesting night and day tomorrow.

Naracoorte group send two strike teams over to edenhope to help the CFA at a number of fire's burning in that area both fire's are still burning mainly in state forest and as of 730am today we have not been asked for any more help. Which is good as we have sent a stike team 2 x 34 and car 1 to keith.....

Friday the 20th saw lighting hit the ground in several places around the Mallee. The most memorable was Ngarkat where our Brigade (uncharacteristically for Ngarkat) saw some action on Sunday/

Friday there were fires everywhere. Cooke Plains and us were the only two appliances on the ground when the Coomandook fire came out of the scrub, just about next resource along were the bombers.

Looked spectacular as it casually strolled across the Dukes Hwy, clearing large, large patches of bare sand.

Really, really trying conditions - went for a rest in the cab eventually where the kestral read 49.7, ahh, much cooler
