I received mine on Friday and it's exactly 2 weeks notice for my assessment, maybe that's what they're aiming for.

Hey Guys,

Recieved an invitation last week to attend the personality profiling and abilities assessment test. What are you guys using for preparation? I have been using the the Institute of Psychometric Coaching. Its good, but thinking a variety of different test styles might help..

I received mine about an hour ago. Same for me, exactly 2 weeks for the test date.
Bootcamp:
I have been using Fire Recruitment Australia as well as a few other online test's that I can find.
A friend of mine in the SAMFS has lent me some books that he used a few years back as well. They may be outdated, but still good practice.
I'm thinking the same, a few different test styles may help.

Good luck to everyone!

Is anyone still waiting on their test date/time? I've triple checked my details and everything is correct, however I'm still waiting for my invitation. I'm considering calling and asking, any thoughts?

Everyone seems to be getting their invite exactly 2 weeks before the assessment. I know in previous years the tests have been run over 1-2 weeks, so assuming they are maintain 2 weeks notice prior to the assessment I wouldn't panic, so long as you received the email for payment and you paid it within the 5 days you can be sure they have your correct details and an email wont be too far off.

I also received the email yesterday and it was exactly two weeks away as well, so wouldn’t stress just yet

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I was passing this info on to another applicant so thought Id share it here just in case it does help someone out.
These are the rough dates for the Recruit process that they gave at the seminar:

These are the dates I have written down from the seminar:
- Monday 13th August Testing 4-6 weeks
- 17th September PAT 1 Testing
- Monday 8th October Interviews
- Monday 29th October PAT 2 Testing
- Monday 29th October Medical
- Friday 2nd November Employment Checks
- 21st January First Recruit Course Starts

These are all approx dates they gave. May change depending on varied factors. But that’s what they will be working towards.

Hope this may help some people with time frame etc.
as before, good luck to everyone on the recruit process.

Hi Guys; first post for me; I also have my date for the written test. I have heard on the grapevine that I should wear long sleeve shirts at every stage of the process due to me having a sleeve tattoo. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

Bad move. They will observe this and ask you for photos of tattoos. A sleeve is fine as long as it isnt offensive. Read the personal presentation part on website

Thanks canine, I’m just concerned that if it comes down to chosing me or someone without tattoos they will go with them. Although I have seen a few firies with tats.

Hey TLC92,
There is no point hiding them at the numeracy and personality abilities testing phase as I don't think they are looking that hard at each person as they will be seeing approx 200 people per day.
In my opinion it is probably best to be upfront and honest right from the get go.
If you have visible tattoos they will ask for photo's of them anyway at some stage of the process.
As Canine said, it all depends if they are seen to be offensive or not.
Good luck.

Double barrelled question here:
1) Anyone know the process to swap with someone the test dates?
2) Anyone got a date for the end of the month that would prefer to go Friday 24th?

I’ll be somewhere along the Savannah Way in a caravan, and won’t get to Darwin until a bit later in the month

Does anyone know what is considered a pass mark or whether there is a minimum score you have to get for the first lot of tests?

It would be based on percentile, so how you score compared to the rest of the candidates. If it was a pass mark then they wouldn't be thinning out the herd enough... Question for the people who have previously applied, was there a spelling test done using an audio recording?

@Optimistic No spelling test done via audio. Its been a while but a vaguely remember there may have been some spelling based questions such as x word is spelled incorrectly write out the correct spelling.

@2beus unfortunately no. You must attend the Angle Park training centre for the testing. I'm pretty sure it says that on the website and it was definitely mentioned during the information sessions. A few people have mentioned being able to  swap their assessment times so it might be worth putting out an email to them to see what your options are.

I believe it is a pass mark and the "thinning" is done by way of the personality profiling. The aptitude side is year 10 level in my opinion.
