SAAS MDT's
« on: February 20, 2013, 07:31:14 PM »
So I'm hearing a lot less radio traffic from SAAS with the introduction of the mobile data terminals. Wondering whether anyone has used one, or knows someone who has, and what their thoughts are about them?

My understanding is that info, warnings and all remarks are basically relayed to the mdt - seems a good idea.

Any thoughts?

Very easy to use although a few of our older members don't like them
Still a few things that the radio has to be used for but pretty well all the basic stuff
(calling on, mobile, back on, case details ect) are through the mdt
cant prove it?? then i didnt do it......

Just curious, do the MDT's work in the country SAAS vehicles or just the major cities & Adelaide ?

Interesting choice of where to deploy them.

eg. Pt Lincoln don't have one but Pinnaroo do.

Anyway they seem like they'll be a good tool for SAAS to use and faster response times will certainly benefit patients

so what MDT are they?  similar to the MFS MCT?  do they use a radio network (which one? GRN or 800MHz data?) or mobile data (Telstra I presume?)  Got any pictures what they look like?

they are inbuilt into the dashboard on a roughly 9inch or so square screen, they are also hooked into streetfinder GPS for the driver.  Unsure what they run on.

Hardware is Motorola MW810 ruggedized PC running 8.4" Touchscreen (resistive).. 80GB SSD, 2GB RAM, Windows 7 and running Intergraph software (same vendor as SACAD)

Navigation is running seperately using Garmin 2595LMT's connected to the MDT via a cable.. Address gets transferred automatically from MDT to Garmin.

Connectivity is via a 3G Router mounted in the vehicle that also provides the AVL capability (Automatic Vehicle Location).. Using Telstra's 3G network..

Keyboard also provisioned in most vehicles.. Keyboard has an integrated mouse pad. Housed beside the passenger seat.. Most Team Leader vehicles etc dont have a Keyboard but instead use the onscreen keyboard..

Poombah.

Just a question regarding MDT dispatch - if anyone knows - Apparently MDT dispatch is done by giving MPDS type eg. 10: Chest Pain and then a Subtype. So radio info like patient age/gender, is that included in remarks - cause according to a friend I was talking to, the subtypes are not gender/age specific?

Here is the specs on it
http://www.motorola.com/Business/US-EN/Business+Product+and+Services/Mobile+Computers/Vehicle-mounted+Computers/MW810+Mobile+Workstation_US-EN

They have almost completed the entire metro fit out.

I think the crews are getting a bit tired of having to constantly reset the AVL all day.

Just interested if anyone knows what the go is with MDT's and country on-call paramedics?

Eg NC188, do Alpha and Bravo both get an MDT messages or just the one you see paged?

Cheers in advance
