CFS Shop
« on: October 16, 2005, 11:11:58 AM »
I don't have any facts just what I can gleen from my own research. So with that disclaimer.

CFS have on face value appeared to have gone to an interstate business to set up the CFS shop.
I see this as a direct slap in the face to many small businesses that have been faithfully serving the CFS for years.

Firemark Services appear to also run the CFA shop http://www.cfashop.com.au/CFASHOP-disclaimer.htm

I am at a complete loss to understand why CFS has gone this way and I am upset by it.

Does anybody know if this was done as a competitive tender or have they just been given it.

I have no doubt that there are many businesses that could have easily fullfilled the requirements for a CFS shop and are members of the CFS.

Very interested to hear everyone's thoughts, does anyone have the facts of how this was setup?

And if I "understand" correctly, no one can use or distribute the STAR, except the CFS shop... Which, I also have heard is run from interstate..

So........CFS take the star away from all, then makes the only supplier the 'CFS' Shop......

hmmmmm...

You're not the only one who isn't impressed.

When I saw their phone/fax number beginning with 03 I lost all interest in using them.

What a disgrace!!

Many local businesses have been supplying us what we actually want for years.

BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And rather than promote uniformity I'd imagine we'll see a proliferation of Brigades designing their own logo (based on the fire star or maltese cross, the CFS don't own that) and getting their local supplier to do it up for them.

Frustratinger and frustratinger!!!!!!!!

I spoke to someone in the VFBA and he said they have jumped on to the CFA shop as it was going to cost too much to set up here in SA??  MMMMMMMMM that does not sound right to me as I know I can buy some items cheaper here in SA.

I agree kat, i think now when we go to sydney instead of all being in some sort of blue or green c.f.s shirt people will be wearing thier favourite Bathurst or cooper's shirt and we'll look like a bunch of ferral's.

The joys of having a controlling big brother!!!!!!!

Interesting though (from observation) the place we see different attire - the state training centre, hence the brigade T-shirts and various other fire service t-shirts - and they all look good!! (Most of the staff here from the centre and regions who provide training wear different shirts too :-D) - obviously who ever thought of and signed off the cfs shop has lost touch with reality and forgotten that CFS is a volunteer service and has no idea what really occurs - either that or they are stuck in their ivory office and can no longer fit into PPE or CFS t-shirts and apparel :x

PS: On a more positive note - Coopers is South Australian owned and operated - maybe we should wear their t-shirts - good to promote a local product and wear a local shirt  :-D :-D :-D :-D

How bout I keep wearing my blue shirts with the Star on them...  Or what ever im wearing when the pager goes.. Whether it be work clothes, or random casual attire, don't think the person watching their house burn down will care what is under my turnout gear !  (Heck I know I don't).

E-bay is a resourceful site - can't imagine it will be long before you will see clothes with the CFS star on them on ebay - maybe then we could get what the majority of CFS wants, not what the minority and uniform Nazi wants

Just keep in mind tha tthe CFS shop is not actually the CFS running a shop it's a Victorian company, with a web site.

I'd prefer to support locals.

Yes I Think Its Poor That The CFS Went Interstate With The Shop, Just Wanted To Check It Out, I Still Support The Locals.  They Are The Ones That Help Us Out When We Need Something Quickly.

Found The CFS Shop Website To Be Non User Friendly Regarding Its Navigation.  Also I Would Perfer To Go Somewhere That If Needed I Can Try It On As Aposed To Ordering Off The Net.

Interstate Was A Bad Idea.
