a brake on a conveyer above block 4 jammed on and burnt out the motor n belt..hence all the smoke and the search is for a missing female school teacher.

'...motor & rubber smoke/fire above block 4...'

Does that mean at the top of the silo complex ?
Would you drag extra powder fire extinguishers up to the top of the silos to extinguish and electrical rubber fire ?
Just curious, what water supplies are at the top of a grain silo (country & port) for you to use ?
It is along way to pump & drag hoses up to the top if you need it ?

Many years ago I have been inside grain terminals & country silos (worked for the Australian Wheat Board at that time) but not recently. I think they are 25 metres high with metal ladder access (some on outside of country silo) to the top.

So genuine questions regards how you would deal with fire at the top of a grain silo.

543 sky jet would be the most convenient appliance for that sorta job....guess thats why they are getting a new mini bronto...provided it can have a 64mm outlet at the end.

No silos in my area... so i wouldnt know exactly.

But if you'd ever heard of a dust explosion then you wouldn't be entereing a silo with a going fire in it.

Just head on up and hit it with a couple of CO2 extinguishers - If it even needs it. Problem solved. Water or DCP will do more damage than good.
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...
