Gday,

Well ive changed my profile name so im not hiding anymore.  Hopefully the rest of you will follow suit.

Ive also listed my current position in my brigade and group. & my old alias name.

Hopefully this change will lead to some decent discussion and less pot stirring!

Changed mine also I say things to peoples face anyway so doesn't worry me, the only thing I had noticed when I joined is everyone seemed to be using nicknames or made up names. The only thing I will not do is put my surname on here for everyone to see (there are quite a few that know it anyway)as I have had so much problems with phone calls in the past so I really don't want to make myself that easy to find in the phone book.
Curious to know where some of the nicknames come from though (mine was from my previous surname and what everyone used to call me)

Now this will be a good way to work out how the state is set up, I need to get the map out to work out what area people are actually in.

All done too, it interesting to see how many people I got wrong with trying to pick were they came from.  The Alias is my brigade nickname, got it by allowing a rolled up foresty 38 to roll back down a large steep hill right past the person who just carried it up to me. :-D

"Stop call" in simple terms is the ceasing of involvement in the particular incident either prior to arrival or at the completion of it.

Umm, Zippy, I know exactly what a stop call is
Might be something to do with the fact that I have processed stop calls on a regular basis  BUT ...
Just kinda wondering why Alan is the king of the stop calls?
Does he have the record for the most numbers of stop calls that he has attended
And while I'm at it I'm delighted to hear you're regular boredmatrix it is just the sort of info that keeps me happy on a hot night :-D

G'day Katrina

Dunno about records, but when I get on a truck, some of the older crew start taking off their PPE because they *know* they aren't going to get to the fire... Every now & then we all get a nasty shock & actually have to do something. But I reckon my strike rate is about 5:1 stops.

We canned cadets this evening in order to ensure that we didn't get called.  Figured we could be certain that once every last stitch of hose was off 24, we'd be paged for something urgent...

Am available Thurs & Friday so am fairly confident nothing untoward will happen until Saturday, when I go back on shift.

cheers
Alan J.

Now I understand Alan!
Could have done with you down here last Friday and Saturday then.
Are you sure we can't borrow you for the next 2 days?
Or are they planning on sending you to the Mt Crawford area for the next few days to make sure nothing happens.
I can see it now, "bad fire danger day here, better send out Alan on standby again"  :-D

This was a great idea. The problem this site used to have was that too many people would be posting anonymously and the dribble that was around here was just abhorrent.

Three cheers for the so-called 'revolution'!
