SAAS uniforms
« on: September 18, 2007, 01:18:00 PM »
Hey ppl,

Just thought i would post a little heads up that SAAS uniforms due to all the controversy they have had with allergic reactions are being re-jiggled for a while.

and in the meantime you will be seeing SAAS Officers dressed in dark blue cargos and workshirts... they should all still have there normal SAAS tabards etc, and be easily identifiable..

not sure when this change is happening, but it is meant to be wide-spread knowledge...
should be interesting too see anyway.

cheers

i rekon the new 'paint job' as such is good. saw them at the show. with the light on its very high vis. much beer during all hours of the day. apparently the lights r different on the front aswell, but i got told that anyone else hear anything bout them?

I say what i think, coz im allowed to have an opinion.

Nice, we've managed to make the most ugly ambulances in the country, stealing the title from NSWAS

Apparently its more than a demo, they have a heap of them at SAAS HQ, they look very different, but doesn't matter what it looks like as long as its got the good things on the inside, thats all that matters.

yes - it's all true.  As someone who will be driving one of those monstrosoties - that particular car you all saw at the show is the lasest and greatest invention since the wheel (According to the Spin-Master SAAS Managers)

they are bigger than the current fleet, obviously stand out a lot more, and have been reconfigured internally as well.

....unsure as to exactly when they are to be rolled out, but there is more than 20 of them ready to go into action just as soon as they are marked up.

The current fleet of station wagons and sedans (Fords an Holdens) are all to be replaced with Ford Territories, which are marked up in something just as bright and similar.....

...and on the uniform topic - they are being completely redesigned as well - so will be a completely new look all round!! Watch this space!

After talking to one of the local SAAS members there are a few problems with the new fleet and the reduced power is one of them..They agree that the loss in power will be no good to country crews who have to travel long distances to get to jobs..The colour has come from what the POMS have and that may also help to under stand the new color of their green uniforms as the replacement uniforms are in the same color as the poms also.....

The Lofty CFS Group have had the rear of some of their appliances (and some more to be done) striped in the same way as the rear of the ambulance posted here.

The striping is aimed at making the appliances working on the freeway stand out better in all weather conditions.....

interesting that SAAS are moving to the Ford Terrority at the same time as other agencies are moving to more fuel efficient vehicles.

re: Lofty freeway appliance restriping, yes Bridgewater pumper was done the other day.  That striping pattern on the rear has been shown in the UK (in similar foggy conditions as experienced on the freeway) to be much more visible.

However the battenburg striping (huge checkers down the side) has been shown to have a negative affect on visibility...

I don't like the new ambulance decoration, the backs look good, but the sides make them look like a computer repair company or delivery van... ("Emergency Ambulance" aside..)

Wow, they look terrible. I'm glad that they are clearly labeled "Emergency Ambulance" to differentiate them from the many many other types of Ambulance you have patrolling around the streets.

People quickly stop worrying about it when they are torn up and getting treated in the back of one.

They do the job.. They aren't made to look pretty..
