Bushfire at CURRAMULKA

At 1255 hours, on the 20/12/05 a BUSHFIRE Warning Message was issued for a Fire burning in the CURRAMULKA area, on the YORKE PENINSULA .

WEETULTA/ NALYAPPA have been responded as a Strike team to the fire.

Para group got responded to Freeling for a strike team but i believe a stop was placed prior to arrival.

Naracoorte group where paged for a strike team to bordertown to a large crop fire but where stopped called on route. guys where only home a few minutes and paged for a strike team to western flat only two appliances where left in the group and so a few appliances came up from wattle range. busy day one would hope that summer may slow down a little but I dont think so......

All the stats on the sizes of fires were in Todays paper (21/12/05) - Ranged from a few hectares, to 180 or so hectares being the largest...

The bordertown fire was the largest in the state and did not make it on the news the size was  615hct  and was contained with only 9 appliances and no air support......

Sounds like a good effort by the Bordertown and Coonalpyn CFS Groups to contain it to that size :-D

As for no media coverage - probally a good thing, allows us to get on with our jobs without watching over our sholders to see who's watching us  :evil:
