Looks like autumn weather is closer. Major flooding at Gladstone and surrounding area.

MFS, CFS & metro SES responding to assist local resources. SES SCC active from 1315 today.

For  Very Heavy Rainfall and Damaging Winds

For people in the Mount Lofty Ranges and Yorke Peninsula north of Gawler to Maitland, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands north of Murray Bridge to Lameroo, Flinders and Northeast Pastoral south of Arkaroola.

Thunderstorms with flash flooding and damaging winds are possible in these areas during today.

If severe thunderstorms develop in the Adelaide region a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should take sensible precautions such as:
   * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
   * Secure loose outside items;
   * Keep clear of fallen power lines;
   * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
   * Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water;
   * Stay indoors away from windows while storms are nearby.

The next warning is due to be issued by 2 pm on Monday 27 March 2006.

This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 215. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.

Thunderstorms with flash flooding and damaging winds are possible in these areas during this afternoon and evening.
Thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall and flash flooding have occurred this morning and early afternoon, particularly over the Mid North where rainfall totals of around 100mm were recorded.

If severe thunderstorms develop in the Adelaide region a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued........

"SES to assess mid-north flood impact

Emergency crews have begun to assess the damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure in South Australia's mid-north, after flash flooding yesterday.

Buildings in Spalding and Jamestown took in water after heavy rainfalls yesterday morning.

The State Emergency Service (SES) says much of the water has subsided, but a large amount is still threatening about 20 houses in an area west of Highway One.

Spokeswoman Judith Bleechmore says a number of bridges in the region have also been damaged and remain closed.

"Yesterday it was very difficult for us to tell how many houses had been inundated in areas such as the towns where water passed through very quickly, so today we will be going through and checking those householders to see that they are all right," she said.

"Crews have visited all homes within a five kilometre radius of the water flow areas and advised them of the potential for flood and provided sandbags, sandbagging assistance and we've started sandbagging ... north and south of where the river crosses the main road and so we fell that we have all precautions in place."

The weather bureau says the region can expect isolated showers this morning but they are expected to clear this afternoon.
