Duties: The Pest Plant Operator, Seasonal Fire Program is accountable to the Supervisor, Fire Operations for undertaking detailed work functions in relation to fire prevention including pest plant and animal control, upgrading, maintenance of infrastructure, fuel hazard reduction and prescribed burning which contribute to operations for the fire management and preparedness in the Adelaide Region. The position will also perform fire fighting duties, participate in fire standby, fire training and may be required to serve at fire incidents across the state.
Special Conditions: The worker is required to undertake emergency operations including fire fighting, and must be physically fit and pass an assessment of fitness to perform fire suppression activities. Some out of hours and weekend work will be required, and the worker will be rostered on call or standby outside of working hours, including weekends, public holidays and on days of extreme fire danger. Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required to attend fire incidents across South Australia and other States, together with a willingness to fly and travel long distances including overnight stays in camp accommodation.The worker will be required to wear a uniform in accordance with Departmental policy. A Pesticide Safety Application and Safety Certificate or equivalent is essential. A CFS Level 1 Certificate is desirable. A current driver’s licence and a willingness to drive is essential.

CMW7 - LEADING HAND, SEASONAL FIRE PREVENTION WORKS(TEMPORARY UP TO 30/04/2006) (MORE THAN ONE POSITION) (Advt) Vacancy No. T5822/2005
Duties: The Leading Hand is accountable to the Supervisor, Fire Operations for leading a group of seasonal fire crew undertaking fire prevention works as part of the Region's seasonal fire management program, assists with the development and coordination of field based works programs. The incumbent will also be required to attend fires, participate in fire standby and training.
Special Conditions: The worker is required to undertake emergency operations including fire fighting, and must be physically fit and pass an assessment of fitness to perform fire suppression activities.
