As we would sure have a GO who is part of this forum with the document and they may or may not have a available to them a scanner that would allow them scan and post the document concerned.

If they are going to be putting more on the red helmets guess what logic or in the CFS case fuzzy logic tells me that yellow helmets will be getting a lot more piled on top of them. I be sticking to what I have got.

I hope the call is still up to the individual as they know what they feel comfortable with and dare I say it some of us do become accustomed to the dangers (an that a  )

If you turn up and a FF then I can't see any problems as some of us older farts can sit bit and let the young ones gain some experience but as mike said it is up to the OIC at the station at that that time as sometimes they have your best interests at heart even though it hard to see.

Pump rescue you got it the booklets a joke and when apply for a change don't expect it.

I know of one brigade where the GO did not even read it and nearly admitted that he new nonthing about the Brigade threats. He knocked it back on the basis that no justification could be made even though they are on a main highway with no assistance for up to an hour if not more. I must admit I just can't remember what they applied for but it was something that is not out of he norm.

Why do we have a booklet that is based on rural fires and structures when it is well known that we attend things other than those types of incidents a majority of the time. I thinks our world has moved on from the 80's in many ways

Relying on a polly to fix it and the last time a polly fixes something other than an election is when.

Or they pull a repaired one from the pile and code that and send it to you.

Just as a side note, I see Mylor have managed to get themselves back onto the Orange network......funnily enough whilst they were on the GRN like everyone else they were still turning out.

Sorry to break it to you guys; to many in my local group have been getting pagers back that were cloned from other brigades as they did not do the cloning properly and they kept going off for the original brigades test and alert paging

I spoke to work mate of mine who has just come back from working on the west coast as a driller. Word is that a brigade has got out of favour with the cops who sub lease a shed which they lease themselves as the building belongs to another company. If the two can't resolve the differences then their truck will go and nd they will mean no SAPOL or SAAS or SES or CFS at all for that town. Reason given is that they can't afford to build in that region a new station they can only do 2 a year 

it looks like some places in SA are looked after really well by the sate budget 

$11965 Per Brigade Per Annum...Average, to utilise $5.6 million on 468 brigades.  Very unrealistic figure...but interesting enough.

The Brigade that I am from  has only a budget on $3500 or $125 per member ncluding all the service that go into providing that service. Welcome to region 6

The concept of a captains radio maybe a good idea for some Brigades rather than something for all Brigades. From experience the idea of captains having a radio so that they can monitor the incident from a distance is a bit of pain in the neck. If they can't make it to the incident then don't both monitoring the incident as it already been said before trust those on the ground to make the right decision. If they can't do the job then all I can say is look at the way you do your training and how you pass knowledge on so they are capable in doing the job.

To add a different flavour to the VHF and GRN argument. In the more remote parts of SA where trucks can drive for significant distance to an incident why not consider bring back the HF radio maybe a bit antiquated but they certainly worked well in these areas.

Apart from using beaters and yellow beacons, is there anything wrong with this? CFS are already trying to streamline the BFF1 Package into a quick Rural Firefighting 101, moreso than it already is (if thats possible), if people only want to deal with rural incidents, then give them a 34, some hose, some lvl 1 gear and let them go wild!

And you wonder why they see us as Dad's Army service with comments like that one. The worse thing about it it's so true.

Play nice as all Brigades can have crewing troubles

There maybe no BIM for the Gerald Community as that part of the state can have large fire like the bookmark fires a few years ago.

The current emphasis within SES is for long sleeve shirts & sleeves on overalls to be worn down. Thus giving the arms more sun protection & scratch protection from abrasion.

I was on a land search with with a mixed crews of both CFS and SES one CFS Brigade came with all members in 2 piece pants, long sleeved riggers shirt and terry toweling hat. The shirts were all the same and Brigade issued. It gave a very professional look by both services.

Yes Badjas the CFS crew certainly had a small work out that day doing a land search.
