Yep I have...no proposals at all as of yet in a nutshell the minister has been told to save some money in the sector n from what I can gather it will be with the reforming of staff levels from SAFECOM down. Whether or not the reforms get down to effect the staff at regional level no one knows! Really a lot of hoo haaa with no answers as yet.

Isn't the CFSVA on a current roadshow around the state presenting what possible ideas are being put forward to combine the emergency services??

thought so...so really cant complain re burnover protection when "they" designed and built it! however im sure it will be in the replacement program and being a 24p im sure they will be earmarked for a 34p if their SFEC warrants it..

We all know that cabin curtains are not good enough - an "halo" system/ in-cab CABA would be ideal. Bradbury CFS were pretty clever with their old Hino 24. Seems like brigades with lower callouts get all the new appliances whilst high risk brigades are left with ancient resources  :-D

If your brigade hasn't been notified of appliance replacement I dare say It won't be this year....at least it's a dual cab still plenty of single cab appliances out and about of older age...it's all on a program when ya number comes up ya truck gets replaced.

Our group did the same thing!! Nothing wrong with prompting people to check things before forecast extreme weather!!

Remember not every brigade has members that attend the station regularly to check things...fact of life pal some people  have lives outside of CFS and especially this time of year a lot of the farming communities like the one in question their members are away on HOLIDAYS.

didn't we send 2 drivers per appliance to negate the fatigue issue?

Left Adelaide at 1600 assuming drivers been awake since 0800 that morning and drove until let's assume 0200 that's 18 hours awake isn't it with 4 hours sleep following... Even two up driving (which without sleeper bunk it's hardly real two up) the hours just don't add up is all I'm saying!

Have you tried the State Operations Support Brigade?? There based in the city and regularly train at SHQ on way mouth street!! They even have their own appliance now!!

Hi all thought I would start a topic re current deployments to NSW. Obviously really ramping up with mustering of appliances happening tonight! Any one going? Any thoughts? Post away but keep it civil!!

Place yourself UPWIND so as not to be in the smoke???
Risk Vs Reward, unless there is something of value, why place yourself in harms way?

Perhaps you should try to attend a Compartment firefighting course, and then you will appreciate that you do not face the same risks as paid firies.

I reckon you might be right mr muscle, a house burning in a Paid firefighters response area has far more risks associated with it than a house burning in a volunteers response area...

Than again I was up early this morning and could quite possibly be disorientated at this point!

One look at the footage and average joe will think you are doing a great job - which for the record, I think you do with what you've got - but as an observer, the first thing I thought was "what are these blokes doing at a structure fire without BA" and for what you are trying to achieve with the legislation, it does not look good if you are not seen to be adequately protecting yourselves.

Just for interest sake all the BA was committed behind the shops at the job mentioned...

The rally against the government not including Volunteers in cancer compo thing.

A rally to highlight how we attend the same type of incidents as the MFS and are exposed to the same hazards, yet the CFSVA want us to wear YELLOWS! Surely wearing PBI (for those that have it) would be a more appropriate dress code to demonstrate our similarities to MFS and why we deserve the same legislated compensation should the unfortunate happen.

The general public recognises our yellow PPE, joe public wouldn't have any idea we have PBI gold...

3 brigades defaulted. It was a close game of footy but really folks? You should make the most of your 2 calls a year. Let alone the poor casualties.

It happens not everyone is home or available to respond 24/7 it's exactly why default procedures are in place! Small communities = less volunteers = higher probability of defaulting!
