Is it just me or does them asking you at 1800hrs for an 0800hrs start tomorrow for a 5 day trip seem abit unreasonable??

No accidents just collisions. An accident would assume no one is at fault. Thats how you can issue a TIN :P

I would like to see if someone is NYC then they be marked so.  We had a guy who passed and word came back from the RTO that he was NYC.  I know it is the responsibility of the Brigade to teach them, we have tried but he is unable to retain anything.  Of course we found this all out after we voted him in!

I'll take the one step further and say I can't believe he was able to pass if he was not at the required standard!

thanks for clearing that one up.......well if it takes him 15 goes at it he might lose interest.  I don't know how many times you can show someone how to sink a stand pipe, let them do it drive up the road to the next oneand they have already forgotten how its done?????

As a BFF-1 Instructor, I tend to see many of these people, so have an idea of who they are.

Pip,

can you tell me if it is possible to fail BFF-1?  We have a member of our brigade who we have been told should not have passed this course, but did so due to the fact that they can not fail.  I just find this hard to believe, as I have stated that i'm not getting on the truck with this guy.  We have tried to teach him but for some reason he just can not learn.

When I was in the Army, part of our recruit training included firefighting however, it was only basic.  My first fire fighting experience was with the army puting out a fire started by a .50 cal machine gun.

The Army has a lot of logistical resources that can be used.  For instance when in Melbourne as we were in signals we were called upon to use these skills when fires were burning around there.  Plus think they have trucks (fuel, water)kitchens etc.

Yes being from a rural brigade I know how long it took for me and others to get on the truck!!  We had a guy that had organised his own BFF1 course as he had friends doing one at Murray Bridge.  Put a few noses out but now he can atleast respond!!!

PS Noone should be doing traffic control with a baseball cap on,its contrary to SOP's...it isnt going to save your skull like a helmet is

I know its off topic but can you please refer me to the SOP regarding traffic control.  I have consulted the SOP's and can find no reference to doing traffic control.  Thanks :-)

Might not be good, but it's certainly amusing!

We had it happen at our brigade and I thought it was rather embarrassing!

Well if its agains SOP's to wear a cap when doing traffic control I want a cement bunker to sit in. Drivers out there dont give a toss! Helmet or no helmet it isnt going to matter when someone is looking the other way doing over 100km's aiming straight at you!!!!
