I tried over a period of seven years, made the interview every time, got through the PAT 2 test easily once, never got a job offer. I have given up now but know plenty who have gone through the process and finally made it in. If I hadn't bulged multiple discs in my back last year I would probably trying again. Make sure you dot all the I's and cross all the T's. Good luck, stay positive and above all be as presentable as you can be at every stage. You are being watched every step of the way!!!

I had it recommended to me as well, the price was high but if it makes your chances of getting in better, why not? I decided that i was not in a financial position to do the course nor could i afford the time. Good luck to you, i hope it all pays off.

I have heard to start looking around end of Feb. I will not be joining in the excitement this time around, start a new job on Monday so my aspirations of becoming a fireman are now at an end. Good luck to all applicants, know the PID and enjoy the ride. I will watch with interest!!!!

Used to be that once upon a time we used to do things for people in our community because that was the community minded thing to do. There was no mention of liability and no form of payment other than a carton of beer. What the hell has happened to us as a community? filtered poor if you ask me.

I am still trying to work out if i should have another crack or just let the dream go after all this time. Will be nine years and six attempts if i go again.

Once again it comes down to not getting your hopes too high. There will always be another intake, just keep on plugging away.

well done on even getting the stay fit letter, it is an achievement all of its own.

Well i can honestly say i have never blamed the system, all i have ever asked for is some constructive feedback. Still waiting for the feed back from this years interview. I have tried to address any deficiency i might have but i obviously have not managed to get it quite right yet. Its all well and good to say "keep trying, you'll get there eventually" but at what cost to my business, family and close friends who try to support me through the whole process?
I am used to the whole system now and the best thing that was ever said to me was, "it's just a game, you just need to learn how to play."
Well it's back to the drawing board, more interview experience and live in hope!

Hey Ferret, still no feedback on interview as yet. They were supposed to start the feedback on monday and it was on a first in first served basis. I think i waited a few days before i registered for my feedback. Will keep you posted.

Well done Thor, save a spot for me in the next intake. As for being ranked and missing out, been there five years ago. Very hard to take but just keep trying.
