Here are some photos of the CFS Display.

This I believe is the best display the CFS has had. Jeff Ayres is looking to have more interactive things included for next year.

As can be seen, the trailer has two TV's - 1 connected to the CFS Website, the other playing a bushfire DVD.
The CFS also had a 'Free photo with Smokey (Cardboard figure)'. This was a big hit on the day I was there.

This display also received the Third Prize in Most Impressive Major Exhibit

Minlaton CFS received a new 34. Built on an Isuzu FTS800 with an Allison Automatic 2500 trans which was ex-Wilmington. Reg - XQN097.
This replaces the temp ex-Willunga 24 we had.

I'm not Pip, but:

• Drivers with a probationary license ("P plates") may drive a CFS vehicle to or from an
  emergency incident under Priority 2 conditions but must  not undertake Priority 1
  driving. (Not including CFS appliances requiring a truck licence).
• Drivers with a learner's permit ("L plates" must not undertake Priority 1 driving or drive
  a CFS vehicle to or from an emergency incident. They may only drive CFS vehicles as
  defined under the Road Traffic Act.

Not yet. Word has been given that Telstra should have the phone lines connected on the 14th December (no year has been given :-D), so they should be able to move in after that.

Actually misterteddy, the PPC budget is held at a regional level to ensure people dont continually order new gear because they think they need it  :wink:

The colour of the shed was meant to be the maroon/cream colour scheme to fit in with the town better but the iron was apparently ordered before that was agreed on...

Yep! They are glad is finally started. For the last few financial years, it was on the cards, but was deferred time and time again due to other essential things needing higher attention.

Attached is a couple of photos of what they were running from.

After ~17 years on the cards, the Curramulka station is demolished and is going to be replaced with a new, modern station that features a separate Communications/Meeting room.

No Robert, it isn't a result of the Victorian fires. Our council Fire Prevention Officer has organised with the CFS Community Education team to run these Bushfire Information Meetings in larger towns, as well as the bushfire prone seaside towns. Just to educate the citizens more about bushfires and how to use a Bushfire Action Plan.
They are a good idea I think and a lot can be learnt from them.  :wink:

Vehicles...

Today at around 1237hrs, a fire was reported 10kms west of Warooka which may impact on a hay shed and shearing shed. In the fire path was stubble, as well as scrub. Air Support were requested, along with a strike team from Yorke Valley group. Both of these were stood down once the head of the fire was knocked down, along with the flanks. All appliances were stood down at approximately 1730hrs with both Warooka appliances going back to the fireground at 2030hrs to ensure the fire is safe/out.

The fire was approximately 2km long, and 100m wide.

The main body is located under the dash next to the centre console of the vehicle.

It is a little heavier but as all the controls, including a clear screen on the hand piece, it is a lot more user friendly.

Yes, there is a separate speaker located in the vehicle. Will look tommorow on its actual location.

Here are a couple of photos of the new GRN Radios being installed.

One downside that can be seen is the location of the Emergency button which is in an easy spot to press when you are sliding the GRN back into its holder  :-o

I have found them relatively easy to use so far.

-Mode Up & Down, as well as left/right navigation keys change the talkgroup up/down
-Press & hold home and it goes to State 111. We are looking at setting this for the main talkgroup that this particular radio monitors (103)
-When you hit 'Chan', type in the talkgroup then press the home symbol.

-Power button
-Blue button is disabled
-PTT button
-Button underneath PTT will change the brightness. Off-Bright-Dull.
-Last button is disabled
