I wonder how this may affect some of the smaller rural brigades that are at present called on to do taskings now.
Some of those brigades have minimal calls during the year now and the task calls are helping them with call out stats.
Every rural Group has a minimal call out brigade and in most cases those brigades in Groups are called on to do the taskings.
Middleton Brigade is an example within the Mundoo Group, even Currency Ck falls in to that area to. Take away their taskings....Wonder what affect that may have...Maybe none, I dont know.
Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.

Gotta hate it when steam ranger loses hot stuff and starts about 30+ fires in sleepers between Goolwa and Victor Harbour

All 3 brigades would all be primary responses to. We had 22 of them here. Should have listed it as 22 calls..Boost the stats.

I took out 72mm here. the 1st 3 hrs was drizzle so that helped. No real flooding here.

We had a good call yesterday 25/1/07. 35 spots along the train line between Goolwa and Chiton Rocks were either smoking or burning due to some type of problem with the Steam Train.
It was just like the old days.

StopCallKing  We have been lucky for night shift work. We have worked from dusk till dawn everytime we go out. It is a long night but certainly goes quick when you are busy.

5271rescue We had to task without a strike team leader. So I filled out a T-Card for our appliance to be told that the T-Card was no good. It had to be a task force T-Card. They didnt even know that the 4 appliances from our group were going to be there, and they called us. They even indicated that a command vehicle was not required. We ended up selecting a leader from the appliances, then spent another hour finding a spare command vehicle at Kangarilla.

We were there Thursday night / Friday Morning. Pretty busy to for night shift. We saw some good spots for fishings to.

This thread is to voice your opinions/ let of steam about the punishment of arsonists...

I say give them the needle...

It may sound a bit extreme, but IMO arson is worse than murder... murder is calculated, Arson it is completely random who dies/looses everything... and how much is lost...

*Pixie*

Before you give them the needle Pixie, lets give them the bill first.

Yep, We (Pt Elliot) sat at station fully crewed and was not called, neither to cox scrub nor to Goolwa station. We could have put a crew at Goolwa and saved outside appliances manning an un-familiar station or area.
I understand about not going to cox scrub. There were no appliances in Victor area either, so we were watching their area as well, but well still could have crewed at Goolwa and at Pt Elliot.
Communications is only a word in the dictionary...noboby knows what it means.

There was a command vehicle at Waikerie that had a copy of each region CFS map book. Cant remember which one.. You would think that each Group could afford at least 1 set each...Oh well

Would be interesting to know how many command vehicles or groups have a CFS regional map book for each region. Maybe at least 1 vehicle per group should have at least a regional map book for each region, seeing we go all over the state

I am looking at making a layflat hose real for the appliances.
Anyone got any ideas about a layflat hose winder for appliances. We tend to throw them onto the deck when in a hurry, then it becomes an OH7S situation.

Or is there a layflat hose reel that is already available from a supplier :-)

We carry the original stowage kit. The recent stowage kit is half the ammount of hoses which was carried. Love them layflat hoses.

Log everything, Report Everything. We need to justify ourselves down here. No reports going in...no need to have a CFS.

We nearly lost a brigade about 10 yrs ago due to them not doing reports. The Group had to fight haed to justify them being here

It may be different for brigades closer to the city, i dont know.

We have been standing on appliances for years and years. Yes, one day something bad will happen, then all hell will break free. The landcruiser 14's are a good option. 2 people and a running fire could be fought from the front cab for added safety. At least the passenger could have a seatbelt on.
