I Came accross this link http://www.janesville.bz/pdf/USAUserGuide.pdf

It is the user guide for one of Lion Apparels Structure garments. It seems like a pretty standard thing for all their Turnout gear.

There is plenty of info on the Lion Site... just have a browse and come back and discuss some the points "straight from the horses mouth"

http://www.lionpsg.bz/

Also interesting to note: The Website states that NO firefighting material should be subject to any sunlight... Didnt find anything about not bunkering the gear though.

Manuel, try and tell me and the 276 other members on here what the taxi logo means to you and then we will tell you what the star means to us...

Have any brigades adopted there own "Brigade" arms. My brigade has and it has meaning, something for us too be proud of and too represent. we wont obviously put it on trucks or duty tee shirts but alot of brigade casual wear has our arms on it.

PS. The MFB dont exactly appreciate there corporate logo

There should be guidelines for all "station wear" but first there needs to a aggreement as to what the differences are between station wear and casual/recreation wear.

heres what i think.
Station wear is the prescribed uniform for use at training and prolonged incidents, Public relation etc. this usually means short sleeves t shirts and long sleeved workshirts along with windsheaters. (either blue or green)

Casual recreation wear is the polo shirts, polar fleece tops, aussie firefighter tops etc. bascially everything that isnt station wear.

i believe that the star should be allowed to be used on station wear only. as for the amount of different prints on the back of "station wear" there should be some something standard.

theres the typical

FIRE     FIRE             sa country
          &                  FIRE
        RESCUE             service

but what would people think of having a print on the back identifying the brigade and there specialties

For Example:

            F I R E
            RESCUE
            HAZMAT

for someone like burnside but if the brigade was just normal it would plainly be fire or if they were and rcr brigade fire and rescue...

My opinion only... (apologies for the dodgy diagram things lol)

No difference......150 calls, 2000-5000 more houses, medium to large shopping complexes, several schools, several arterial roads, mulitple industrial sites and service stations.  :-P

Although no CFS area is the same there are similarities but there is also a huge difference between Coomandook and Morphett Vale or Burnside and Kalangadoo

6
What do u mean by extra commitment?

7
Ok, Whats the real CFS then mate... there is a huge difference in needs for brigades! you cant just have one association for your Salisburys and the infamous Kalangadoo. Different needs, people, equipment and huge difference in brigade activity.

8
A very good idea. Does anyone know what happened to FRAG and what brigades belonged to it. i think if the FRAG or something similar was established we would have problems with the rulings for what makes you a frequent responder. I reckon we would have this problem because if the FRAG was established and the members of it got the best of everything (equipment, training) the non members would be really pissed especially those who just missed out on being a frequent responder.

BTW What makes a Frequent Responder? Call Numbers, SFEC's...

Thats what i thought... The CFA stations are awesome! has anyone seen the station in Lorne. its co-located with the rural ambulance with 3 cfa bays and 2 ambulance. its two story so i can only imagine how much space there is up there, yet they only do 50 - 100 calls a year!

Country Fire Service / Urban Fire Station Contruction
« on: May 20, 2006, 07:44:17 PM »
Does anybody know what the standards of construction are going to be in regards to new station contruction for Urban CFS Brigades. There hasnt been an Urban station built for quiet some time. Surely they arent going to build a "shed" on the side of a road in an urban environment. And urban stations differ greatly in the type of equipment kept there and their physical location.

If the CFS where to build a new station for an urban brigade (lets use Eden Hills as an example) What would it look like? Would it be on a main road? would it have traffic control lights (orange orange red)? and would it have some of the mod cons of an MFS Station (I dont want this to be a "CFS trying to be MFS" Thread)

I was always taught at courses and the CFS/SES Leadership course:-

"praise in public, discipline in private"

Why does it not occur to anybody that the page that was sent out was intended ONLY for Seaford members which would "theoritically" be the case. If there was no online pager decoder we (the public) would not know of this message so it would be private.

The messages on the site are intended just for those who it is addressed too.........If its not on your pager, its not for you.
