I couldn't make it this morning but did anyone happen to go to the MFS open day today?
Any insights on the current recruitment process or perhaps any information on what recruitment is going to look like next year?

I heard the first squad next year will start in April/May

First line of the MFS recruitment policy: All recruitment processes will be conducted in a fair and equitable manner.

Doesn't appear that is the case......

Stop being a sook. If you want to know why you haven’t processed perhaps try some self reflection. A self entitled whinger who has no self awareness and blames other people and/or the process rather than taking responsibility for the outcomes of their own responses and actions is not what the MFS is looking for.

Where did I sook or say I havnt progressed??
I and others on this forum don't think it's fair and equitable for applicants merging in to the same process to complete testing under different conditions. Not sure how U can argue with that.

Hi guys/girls, I created this account just to let you know I received an unsuccessful email today, and to say thanks to everyone who's posted here and in the 2018 thread (and previous years), it's been good info!

I received an email stating that while I achieved a satisfactory result in the cognitive ability assessments, the results from my personality and behavioural assessment has placed me in a position that will not see me progress in this process, and that this result remains valid for 2 years.

Does anyone have any advice on how to better prepare and complete the personality profiler for 2 years time when I am eligible to re-apply? I'm quite confused as I felt that I answered the ~300 questions honestly and accurately, and my real-world personality/behaviours truly reflects that which the MFS outlined as required on their website. It's a difficult way to fail, as it's not due to lack of effort, skills, abilities, organisation, or fitness, and as we all know, we can't get any feedback from the MFS.

Thanks again everyone, and good luck to those still in the mix, I look forward to hearing about the journey!

The profiling is all.about your risk score. There are  plenty of websites around that have sample questions. However if you improve you profiling too much from one test tomtje next  then this will also see you not progress.

Yeah I got unsuccessful email yesterday, what do they expect when they use results that were previously unsuccessful. Fell short by half a month to reattempt test. All the best ladies and gents hopefully next year is my year.

So did U have to pay another $100?

I thought you couldn't apply this time if you applied last time?
And don't expect any meaningful feedback

Has anyone received interview feedback from 2018 yet?

Ha ha ha. Good luck with that.

So this group of applicants get to sit the personality profiling and aptitude at home on their own computer?? And then it's meant to be fair that their results mix in with the people that remain in pool who sat it under much different conditions.

It's says on new applications if you applied in 2018 than you can apply this campaign.

There is less interest because anyone who applied last time can't apply this time. What was the selling point at the info sessions? Family friendly lifestyle and all the crap. Did they mention much greater chance of getting cancer hence why 12 types of cancers cover firefighters under WorkCover? Do they mention cutting badly injured or dead people out of cars? Attending suicides? Etc.
Or is it all Rosey to attract the "diverse" workforce they want for some reason?

Many from the keep fit pool have received better luck next time letters so your assumption is incorrect. Unfortunately it would be too costly and time consuming to interview 4-500 or more applicants.

Friday’s media announcement on the MFS website states they are looking to recruit again in the second half of the year.

Rumour is only for applicants who didn't apply last time.

Is there a 2nd squad scheduled to start after the completion of the 1st squad, which should be finishing in early May?

Yeah mid May. I think they have been notified

Hey guys,

Starting this new thread in the hope that someone sees it and has a bit of insight.
I am currently interested in the Retained Fire Service with the MFS, and am fortunate enough to be able to relocate to make this a reality (provided positions are available upon applying).

If anyone on here is currently a retained firefighter, I would love to hear from you!
I am interested in how the restoring/availability works.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Look on the MFS website. Pretty good explanation on there. Do want to do it as an easier way of getting in to full time position?

I think the fact we have been intervied first means we scored higher in the psych so should be fine into the second squad canine

Might come down to interview scores but you'd be very unlucky to miss out

Hi Squid. I’m in the same boat as you. I was hoping for first squad but that starts on 21/1 so I am now hoping for the second squad but who knows??

It will depend on how many "score " higher than you in the up coming interviews. You'd have to think you'll be in second squad though
