Mate, well done. You are so close. Pat 2 invites are about as close to a job offer as you can get. Watch the vid and see if you can replicate some off the exercises. Looks like you don't have a lot of prep time though. Don't drop anything and I hope you like stairs and being wrapped in plastic

Do you think these 300 have now been notified? They are leaving it a bit short notice if this is not the case.

Yep, that was my thoughts.

Yeah, I wouldn't write yourself off just yet. However, even if you don't make it this time, there will be plenty more opportunities down the track. You'll have more experience for the psyc test and an appreciation for how hard it is to get in. Also don't limit yourself to self to SAMFS. CFA will be recruiting soon and there are professional fire services in every state. It's disappointing to not make it. It's more disappointing to give up altogether. Congrats to everyone who made it to the next stage.

Well worth the wait though. It almost killed me but the job is amazing. Process seems a bit quicker this time. Mine took over 6 months.

I was offered a position through the retain process and I have no ambition to move to Metro after 5yrs.

I'd hate to find out that the retained guys didn't have to do the same testing as the 'civillian' applicants.

They did same testing. But got to sit same aptitude test twice. Once for metro and once for regional.

Same recruitment proccess. Only one shot at each part regardless of applying for both entries.

The odds were certainly better through retained entry and I am thankful they opened it up for us retained. Hopefully we do not disappoint in the drill squad and can keep the door open for more retained to follow.

Congrats Junior! I got my offer today. Looks like we are going on the same recruit course. How did you go footy42? I'm presuming you were part of the retained group.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Hopefully they can get it sorted out. It would be a shame for some 'once in a lifetime' job opportunities to go begging because it all got too hard. I hope you hear back soon footy42 if I can read between the lines correctly ;-) .

Retains haven't heard yet!

Wow, if this is the case, I think it's a bit rough to let the general entry guys know a week or two after pat 2 and let retained guys sweat it out for 6 + weeks waiting for news. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure the union was trying to lock up Pirie and the Mount for retained from here on in.
