MFS rural trucks are nothing like CFS ones. A lot Smaller chassis, less water (1500L), no crew deck. I'm referring to the "8" 4WD pumpers they have. This is where CFS really take the lead in rural firefighting...

Having MFS there won't really help the problem.
Just some more spending of money that the government doesn't have. If CFS can't get the funding for a new heavy pumper, what hope is there for MFS to get two pumps there + the extravagant station and the salary for the full-time crew of 6. Much cheaper to buy Mt Barker a pumper crewed by vollies who are quite capable of offering the same service. The incident rate is too low anyway to have a full-time bunch of MFS guys crewing the station doing practically nothing all day. What a waste of money.

Mt Barker should at least get an Iveco like Morphett Vale and Naracoorte. Isn't Fraser building any more?

Mt Barker definitely deserves a Scania or a Volvo. Perhaps something like Burnside's.

When I had it - It was Rx only. No Tx capability.
However it was quite limited compared to my current scanner (UBCD396XT).

Pretty good. Where'd you get it from? I reckon if you hooked it up to a programming thing, then you'd be able to do TX and RX as well.

Just to let you know that an FF from Eden Hills has confirmed that Eden 24P WILL be replaced this year with a 34P

Saw a pager msg  the other day on scanner from Mt Barker Info saying that the appliance is unusable and the RCR is stowed on the 24 and the rest chucked on the 34P - followed by "Replacement appliance coming soon???"  Anybody know the cause of the rescue's step-down? Seems Barkers' appliances always having problems.

A $1m Scania or Volvo on the way? :-D That's what's needed with the high urban development risk there. :wink:
Or perhaps they'll get a NZFRS Iveco Eurocargo 750 gpm pump?

Doesn't have defence lines and the back is exposed - which is a major problem I suspect for the crew on the back during a burnover - gotta run to the cab I guess :)

Unless you call the one sideline chucked on the back behind the tank a "defence line"   :-D

BTW, does anybody know how many new appliances will be rolled out this year on the replacement program?
Is it 23 34's, severals BWCs, rescues and a couple of pumps?

We all know that cabin curtains are not good enough - an "halo" system/ in-cab CABA would be ideal. Bradbury CFS were pretty clever with their old Hino 24. Seems like brigades with lower callouts get all the new appliances whilst high risk brigades are left with ancient resources  :-D

Does anybody know if Eden Hills is going to get a new appliance to replace the 24P?? Its seems as though it hasn't been rolled out for a while. 21 yrs old already - looks pretty outdated with no burnover protection etc!
Would they get a 34 or a 34P? :wink:

I am intending to produce a professional video commercial for the CFS to help recruit new volunteers for the fire season and  am wondering whether anyone across the state can provide any amateur videos (we can use them :-D) or recordings of:
Pagers (new/old)
Sirens/Lights from any new or old appliances
Trucks leaving stations
Scene Footage - shot with iPhones or small cams of small incidents like grass fires and 'mopping up' etc (No MVA's etc)
Truck footage - Appliances: Pumper, 14, 24, 24P, 34 and 34P etc ***Preferably new appliances***
