SA Firefighter

When I attended my first incident it came over as a rcr the brigade captain did I ask if I was okay to deal with it.  Also we tend not to take young or new members to rcr if the details are sketchy or if not necessary.  I think the reason in our group is that people can listen in to the radios and if information is being sent then you can have people turning up on scene, which can add more problems to an incident.  A  brigade was called up by the media when the group officer was talking about a brigade issue over the radios

why cut out resources from a fleet when they can be used in different areas by strike teams.  The areas where extra resources are allocated often have a high risk in terms of fire cover due to population, but with a higher population comes a higher number of people who would volunteer, so effectively creating a reserve army of firefighters would can respond to any area of the state and not drastically reducing the number of resources in the affected area

It might not be worth while buying a new chassis as i know that 2 years ago the appliance spent time at Moores having its deck fixed after it snapped, and i don know how they fixed it, but our appliance had supported welded underneath so that might be a reason for not transplanted the back onto another chassis

just out of interest would TC382 be a MFS training centre appliance or sacad acting up no brigade was acknowledged to having TC382

What do you reckon about Eden Hills 24? If it was modernised, then i reckon it would make a reasonable 24p type appliance as it fits 2 ba, portable pump, extra urban equipment, has a crew deck and has a pto pump with pump and roll abilities

it is no different to Rockleigh CFS, who are currently sharing a station with Monarto

i do agree with building appliances that suit areas, but the cfs is goning to do so unless brigades build their own.  The lockers and crew deck can be modified to have greater locker area as has been stated by me before, but also the design doesn't include lockers that can be placed under the deck, perhaps we can wait for the appliance to be buiot and while testing it, see how much can be fitted in

It is a good point, looking at some of the 34s being produced, most have a 25mm outlet, so having a dead reel means that one person can begin attacking the fire, whilst the hose is removed from the dead reel and then hook in and pulled out etcetc.  The crew deck on this appliance is different to the tasmanian appliance as this design allows for attacking fire from both sides, while allowing for more stowage on the appliance.

What do people think of the new prototype 24 tanker that is planned to be built

Just wondering what is happening about the curries of these appliances as I know two were built and I only know of one being used currently at booleroo while their 14 is in Victoria.  Reading the latest infralog it states that more single cab appliances were being built, but I don't see why more of these are being built as they can be quite useful to quite a few brigades that I know of.
