I was wondering with the MYCFSCREW app does the whole brigade need to be signed up to it or can individual members register for it

SA Firefighter General / Emergency HD game on Andriod and Apple Devices
« on: January 09, 2014, 02:26:56 PM »
G'day everyone gee its been a while in between drinks since i actually last posted a new topic  :-P anyways for all of those who may remember the PC game Fire Department shortly before christmas i went out and placed an ipad mini on my radio rentals account as a present to myself

Anyways after a couple of days of getting use to the mini version of ipad i came across an interesting app called Emergency HD much to my surprise after downloading its an exact similar version to the game i had on the old computer years ago

It has 12 missions from a car vs train to a zepplin air ship crash/fire and even an Alien Invasion as the bonus mission and theres an add on for an additional 99 cents im currently trying to complete the 2nd level on the add on as its tricky

So if you are looking for an interesting game you cant go past Emergency HD it also in a way doubles as a perfect training game too

CFS Ops support brigades are basically like your heart they are very the team who work behind the scenes ensuring all radio communications and logistics runs smoothly at every incident even if its a small rubbish fire or major flooding after a storm

If it was an animal rescue shouldnt it have said cow vs tree then the cops could have booked the cow for driving a motor vehicle without a moo licence

SAAS / Re: Vehicle Livery - St John Ambulance SA

I seen one of the johnnies vehicles down this way recently with the new livery on it and this is definately a positive as it allows them to stand out and be seen as an emergency vehicle whilst also at the same time not being mistaken as an attachment to SA Ambulance because of their former colours being white and green stripes

It is good to see st johnnies being utilised for non emergency transport by AV freeing up the ICPS and Volunteer Crews to respond to Code 0,Code 1 and Code 2 cases

Country Fire Service / Re: Fire Season 12/13
« on: October 19, 2012, 01:07:13 PM »
Putting it plain and simple yes the BOM is on track with its prediction of a dry mid spring for the SE of SA and up north of SA along with higher than average temps than normal for summer

However what we must bear in mind while alot of areas are still relatively green it will only take a few days of above 24 or 30 degrees for it to dry off enough to burn quickly

So the best piece of advice is to wait and see how the fire season unfolds as the BOM is also predicting roughly even chance of a wetter or drier season over nothern SA so while they maybe getting hot weather now that could be their early summer

Out of curiosity kelly with this change in contracts how will it benefit South Australia in terms of medical services

I was a lil bit unfit the last time i went for the pack hike so im guessing they have trimmed it back from 3.22 to 3 kms which is about 7 laps

10
I have applied for it already just need to wait a week or two after friday to find out if im on the shortlist

Chinny it pays if you've got Level 1 or BFF1,Senior First Aid, Plantation Fire Fighting 1 and experience as a CFS volunteer

Pends on what kind of first responder you are referring too as theres 3 types

1. Single Paramedic Rapid Intervention Team (Sprint)

2. Single responders which can be with a paramedic or volunteer ambulance officer responding solo to the scene

3. Community First Responders(volunteer ambulance officers who can provide treatment but not do a carry)

The primary role of a first responder is to respond to a medical emergency and assess the patient and provide treatment until a ambulance with paramedics or a full crew can arrive on scene

All Equipment discussion / Re: Sirens on american vehicles
« on: March 18, 2012, 02:46:01 PM »
Maybe the americans could have loctronic sirens on their appliances instead of the Q siren and horn although i guess we could adapt to having their powercall siren on our appliances

Medic 750 and Medic 253 Responding with Powercall

Good question Al DENR do respond to fires they havent started themselves if they are requested to respond or a fire is in one of their national parks or native vegetation corridors

SACAD seems to be working alright although i can pinpoint only 1 issue without blowing it out of proportion

1 and only issue: Brigades 10 or more minutes away being dispatched to an incident when there are closer appliances like just down the road or 3-5 minutes away

Its not that hard to use the K-codes all you need to do is tell AF when you are mobile and back at station
