Country Fire Service / Re: Group and Brigade Rivalries
« on: March 20, 2007, 07:52:09 PM »
I think some of you have completely missed the point, I was talking about brigades not being responded to INCIDENTS in their OWN brigade response areas. But some of you have obviously experienced this others have not, the rumour is that the 30 MFS responded brigades will be moving to SACAD in a months time and I find it difficult to understand how SACAD is going to fix the problems when there has been little or no consultation in terms of areas and things like who we think would be the closest appliance at certain times of the day, I mean lets be honest the people that know our response areas best are US. I will believe that SACAD has fixed our problems when I see it. :-o

Country Fire Service / Group and Brigade Rivalries
« on: March 16, 2007, 05:07:54 PM »
Can some one explain to me why when we are all in the same service that there is so much brigade and group rivalry that they respond not just once or twice but constantly into others response areas without the courtesy of giving other briagdes a "call". I know of at least three instances in the last two days which are prime examples of brigades and groups responding well outside their normal areas (and not for specialist taskings either like road crash or tanker) but just a normal response. Quiet frankly I find this whole thing appauling that such rivalries get in the way of us offering a "proper" service that we all seem to think we belong to. We all blame "the establishment" for a lowering in morale of fire fighters, but I think that we need to look closer to home for a lowering of morale quiet frankly its a kick in the guts.

You all need to realise what whinging tools you sound like, and making so many speculations and false statements for really no apparent reason, the BMI rule is a fair rule and it only ever bumps one or two people a year who are not overweight or obese but body builders and the likes. You seem to find the ones that whinge over these matters are the ones that fail the medical. The BMI level has been raised over the years also, and I think you will find that small petite people will be restricted by their doctors (with half a brain) also because carrying 27kg on a small frame can cause serious back problems. slag me if you like but if most of you look deep inside yourselves you know I am right.

Women of the Fire Industry / Re: women in the service's
« on: August 15, 2006, 12:36:36 PM »
Hey Firetruck stop using my nick name for other people

I am a "female" and have been a CFS vollie for 6 years, when i joined my brigade there was 2 women and one was a 1st lewy, many of our brigade members are from the old "school", where women should be at home etc... and I had to prove myself more than my brother who joined at the same time, my captain of the time was very supportive of women and so is our current one. I don't understand why there is such a stigma about "women" and being on the frontline at major incidents. I recall one of the first strike teams I attended I rocked in with my appliance got off for the briefing and in front of everyone one of the brigade captains asked me what I was doing there, women don't come on strike teams, when I looked around I noticed I was the only female there. If someone says something like that to either a male or a female there needs to something done about it, it is not acceptable in the year 2006 for this to be occuring.

For starters CFS are NOT allowed to tow vehicles with their appliances according to a new COSO and if something gets damaged when you are the CFS is not liable.

Are we honestly going to be another RAA, when these calls come in the operations centres should be directing the calls elsewhere.

Honestly people is it really worth getting out of bed at 3 in the morning to go and get some person that has bogged themselves out of the POO when it could be done by a tow truck, when life is in danger yes i agree, but in a normal sitaution NO.

No offence to anybody but do we really need another working party headed by the VFBA, Maybe it would be better to start a petition on here and I am sure someone will make the Chief Officer aware of it. I really think that it coming from the members and not the VFBA would be a better way...

Saying that though I think the CFS has already made up its mind on this issue

SA Firefighter General / Re: SAAS Responding Other Services..
« on: July 01, 2006, 10:18:10 PM »
More often than not in our response area we only hear about vehicle accidents that SAAS attend when one of our members frives past and sees them there and we respond ourselves

Does fire cover and stabilisation mean nothing to these people.

:xNot disagreeing that the star is far better than the taxi logo but we have had this arguement before, All of my t shirts bar the ones I have bought recently have the star. But the logo did go out for consultation but no one else entered the comp. so obviously with only one entry the winner was obvious. I disagree with the process and the money that has been spent rebadging uniforms, trucks and PPE, i was asked to put the corporate logo on my helmet and I refused and wear the star with pride. Each point of that star means something special and has for a long time. I "wink" "wink" "nudge" "nudge" am still getting the star stickers from a source.

Any one can get the volunteer you just have to be on the mailing list, I know of other organisations other than CFS that get it not sure about SES though but take Mengs advice and email public affairs.

Cheers! :-D

maybe sometimes you should think before you speak!

I WRITE what I think and if you have a problem with that so be it!

Go and yell in your pillow or hug a tree but don't bring down the quality of threads on SAFF

and ruin it for everybody else.

The bags of PBI Gold up at STC are no longer in bags because they are the new CFS Training sets for CABA and CFB, I think someone would notice people walking around the fire ground with CFS Training written on the back
