As i heard it the CFS on call MLO was pretty much off the grid on the weekend.

And there i was thinking this would be about the wide, varied and filtered up range of terminology being used on the GRN...

MrTed, I dont even bother reading these sort of things. No matter who produces them [service, employment status, etc] they always seem to miss someone out, fail to give credit to all partiers, use poor terminology and cause offence to someone, etc. Its very hard to keep everyone happy.

Id have to say though my favourite is always the mis-matched photos that the news outlets put with any MFS/CFS/SES media story.

Relatively sure that 95% of the brigades in region 1 & 2 at least would be trying to have data changed.

I believe the CFSVA would be well aware of all the problems.

Also, i hear 5 staff have been sucessful in there applications to become MFS Comms Ops.

Better news for one agency than the other?

No suprise really, and as pumprescue said, closest most appropriate has been thrown out the window purely by the way they have decided to run the system. Although i doubt thats why it is delayed.

Differant shifts, differant officers and differant training levels.

Notice INC 40 and INC 021 were during a differant shift to INC 34.

There is no set list of questions for operators to follow to arrive at an incident type.

Lets not forget, most operators are temporary and spend the first 12 months of there 2 year secondment getting up to a decent standard, then there gone.

There is a need for multiple Resuce appliances when they carry differnt gear. As the job was on a steep hill, as Jaff pointed out, then it would be entirely appropriate for Stirling to be turned out for their Rope Rescue capabilities. You should well know that there is a huge difference when it comes to rescue stowage around the state. All Rescue brigades have the minimum, but above and beyond that, who knows?

Indeed, however looking beyond this specific circumstance, responding operators only is a feaseable way of reducing the amount of rescue vehicles being displaced.

If Stirling responded to this job as a rope rescue resource, then that is an entirely differant matter of course.

Athesltones vehicle with RCR gear was already on scene? Stirling &/or Burnside respond a differant vehicle [ ie there 24] just with operators... no need for multipel sets when theres only one entrapmnent in one vehicle.

I believe a minimum of two bays is the standard these days guys, leaves room to expand.

This means they need sleeping quarters for eight, S/O's office for 2, gym, mess, rec room, training room, ammenities, secured parking.... probly doesnt take long for it too look large.

Bit bit critically of the trucks that CFS build. I can't see a problem to the way that the trucks are built the problems lays in the way what brigades want to do with the truck once it is in their shed. Both the rurals and rural urbans have problems but the world not perfect. Malleefire - your post implies you are obviously from a brigade where life is simple and most jobs are either rural or vehicle related. If you were in an urban brigade, you may understand how most CFS vehicles just dont cut the mustard.

But considering MFS dont pay any attention to the fact that CFS area responding, notice the response for a B risk is still 3 MFS pumps an aerial and DO as well as CFS anyway... it might as well be the closest one or not at all. As that is supposedly the only reason they're going...

Im not sure why half the SIGINCs have been sent lately... ie; $80,000 housefires, shedfires etc... the requirements for a SIGINC are set out clearly  enough in SOPs.

MFS are allowed to call up to three CFS brigades for change of quarters before havign to even speak to the CFS, they should just be paged by Adelaide Fire. So not sure what happened there... all looks very strange on face value though.

You got two messages.. look across the rest of the system.

Its a paging network for the emergency services, and other users. We've talked about it before i think, cant remember if we decided if there was acost or not??

Anyway, all i know is i get fed up with people sending messages day and night, when its not necessary. Not everyone loves there pager going off all the time.
