No problem here, I think it is a great idea, as has been mentioned, the trucks will roll quicker - this can only be a good thing.

I just find that it is not right to have one brigade using this system when it is clear that it would benefit all brigades regardless of callout stats and funds. In my opinion this would be an 'operational' modification to part of CFS turnout procedure, a suggestion for the better which I would have thought would be passing through a chain of command prior to being implemented............not just one brigade doing it because they can.

FYI Our Group officer did involve region, prior to the trial of the system....

Sounds like it was for a patient lift... but if CFS were sent to this job first up, you can help someone heaps by just doing your basic first aid...
Remember basic care DRABC and scene management
•   Make sure the patient is safe –eliminating dangers
•   Reassurance and basic psychological support
•   Posture the patient for comfort or splint
•   Temperature control - make sure the patient is kept warm
Ring SAAS/000 for further first aid support/advise/sitrep

What are you trying to say Zippy...Barker has a good run to Oakbank and often arrives first for rescue in that area, for many years it has been an area of debate as to who should go.

Haha that’s funny trust me Barker Rescue doesn’t go that fast. Standard issue turnout for us zippy, we had to stop for a few red lights along the way as well.  As pumprescue said, we are not that faraway (13k drive) it’s actually about halfway between Lobethal and Barker.

Yes not sure about the b pillar in the air either but on another website it looks like it may be the trim only??  But once again why not spend the extra minute removing it.. but i wasn't there so there is probably a good reason for it to be like that:) still good job to all involved

a. The driver’s side B pillar was not cut high as it was impinging on the 
Patients head, in this case it was suitable to lift it straight up and cover it.
b. Paramedics wanted the patient out quickly. 

How do the cfs 34p and 24urp go with mains pressure 4in/4out? How often do hills brigades pratice with the boosters? I heard of a site being installed in the hills ie near mt barker with a triple pump and tank set up. Should be good for cfs to practise with 

34p/24ps are obviously very limited in their boosting capability, depends on the system and the mains pressure.... Can only speak for our brigade but, Booster/sprinkler/alarm panel training is included in our regular training. We have so many different systems, just lucky that we have a few MFS members that are able to facilitate the training.. Our brigade is still waiting to do the Check Installed Fire Safety Systems course..... But the CFS doesn’t seem to care about urban risks......

Just had a look through the chief officer's standing orders & standard operating procedures - Picked out a few key points re DGO/GO responses and notifications... looks like some GO's/DGO's can’t read.....

Initial Resource Response Schedule SOP 2.1

GO's/DGO's to attend;
2nd alarm Rural incidents        
2nd alarm RCR
1st alarm HAZMAT
3rd alarm Vehicle Fires
3rd alarm Structure Fires or as requested
Special Service incident's as required


Emergency Response Driving COSO 8

Command Vehicles and Staff Vehicles shall not respond priority one to incidents below 2nd Alarm unless requested by the Incident Controller.


Officer Notification -COSO 15
(The GO/DGO do not have to attend the incident to do this)

Group Duty Officers shall ensure the Regional Coordinator (RCord) is advised as soon as practical for:
•   All second alarm calls or greater
•   Where a Groups resources, equivalent to second alarm are committed to an incident(s)
•   All CBR / Hazardous Materials incidents
•   All rural incidents/responses on fire ban days of predicted FDI 50 and above
•   All air support response requests
•   Regional communications and logistics support requests
•   An aircraft alert or crash
•   Any incident or emergency incident which is believed to have destroyed assets greater than $25,000 in value
•   Any fire which has burnt more than 30 hectares in area
•   Any injuries or death of firefighters in accordance with Occupational, Health and Safety Manual, Accident reporting
•   Incidents involving multiple injuries/persons trapped eg bus, train, multiple vehicle incidents
•   Any fire which has resulted in a fatality
•   Any incident where SA Police conducts fire cause investigation
•   Any structure fire incident where the Brigade or Group require fire cause investigation to be undertaken
•   Any incident which requires Stress Prevention and Management debriefing
•   Any other incident of an unusual nature (eg flooding, entrapment, search, assistance to other agencies, building collapse, bomb threat)
•   Where CFS is assisting MFS outside of the normal dual response areas (as defined by the Mutual Aid Plan)
•   Resources being deployed to another Region/State
•   Where change of quarters to MFS stations has been requested
