Priority 3 has been reintroduced to cut down on the higher accuity non emerg jobs that were either waiting up to an hr (pri 4) or being uncecessarily upgraded to emerg status (Pri 2) because the lower priority time wasnt appropriate. Shouldnt really be a surprise what system would ever survive 1-2, then 4 on...leaving 3 missing...lol

Gillman Speedway is extremely high risk stuff.  Only a matter of time before the preverbial hits the fan. Unfortunately someone's kid is going to be the test subject.

Rumour is St Johns are moving away from the higher risk events due to whole of organisation risk. Could just be rumour (happy for SJA to correct that statement if not correct).

But what type of services are popping up?  bearing in mind event organisers want St Johns type rates (volunteer services small $$ charged). SAAS are correctly overpriced as part of cost recovery for having a professional Emerg service on standby.

If this provider pictured is licensed and ticks all the governance boxes then I will eat my hat (liabilty/indemnity insurance alone is more than the cost of the Ford Ambulance pictured).

Numpty the vehicle in question is a mid to late 1990's Ford Longreach ex country ambulance that did not do service with SAAS but a SA Country independant service.

KellyP, That seems like a very logical model, but SA is totally in disarray and could do with a shake up in the hospital system. Oops did I say we have no money due to very extravagant projects that have blown way out off budget. Go figure but a great idea. :-)

Blackfoot you think the US system is the only one. They are not the only system in the world and your organisation is not the only one either.

best bet wait until it comes out in black and white policy and not read into it on this forum.

As a long time subscriber, SAAS should recognise their subscribers for their continued support and not take advantage of them. It also pays part there of your wages as well. Victoria, NSW and other states recognise the support of long time subscriber. Why not SAAS? And the PTS clause about other person doing PTS is about filtered time as this service is slipping back into old habits. But not give the work to that small volunteer group. :-)

am not sure, but the powers to be decided to dump the NEPTS onto the emerg crew in Ballarat for a start so that would end up taking them out of town and leave it uncovered. filtered idiot politicians. :x

I agree with what you are saying that they should have gone into other areas and serviced them as well. The state service is not the be all and end all as they could just pull the rug from under them as what they have just done. Typical government.

It turns out that they were mainly contracted by RAV to service NEPT for them, but they then cancelled the contract and dumped the work back on RAV crews in country Victoria according to my sources. :roll:

I have been informed by a friend that Ambicare in Victoria is now in receivership as of Monday just gone. Staff were notified on Monday when the rocked up to work and were told they have no job.

BALLARAT workers at patient transfer company Ambicare are reeling after losing their jobs this week.
On Monday, employees at the Ballarat branch of the Horsham-based company were told the business had gone into liquidation.

Patient transport officer Peter Butcher said workers at the company were devastated.

Mr Butcher said he received a phone call on Sunday followed by a text message that evening saying the company would hold a meeting at 11am on Monday.

When we arrived at the shed, the liquidators were there and said the company was finished,he

said. We were devastated. We all have mortgages and bills to pay.

The company provides non-emergency patient transfers. Ambicare operated out of sites in Ballarat, Horsham, Bendigo, Hamilton and Mildura.

Earlier this week the company appointed Pitcher Partners to manage the liquidation process.

Pitcher Partners partner David Vasudevan said up to 50 staff across Victoria would be affected by Ambicare's closure.

“The decision was made by the director to call us in,” he said. “In this particular instance unfortunately there’s no other option but to stop trading.”

“We’re looking at all angles but clearly a drop in revenue was a major impact in the company’s demise.”

He said it could be up to eight weeks before employees receive their entitlements.

BM SJ vehicles are registered as a response vehicle under the road traffic act and still continues on from the OLD acts as I remember seeing on SAAS paperwork in very fine print that SAAS is a subsidiary of the St John Council. Not sure if it is still there though.

Saambo, this group has had a big grudge against SJ and SAAS for the past 2 decades and do not want to move forwards while certain members are in control e.g. certain forum member. enough said. They cater for the low socio-economic public and I think that the statuatory service should be free for these people like it is in other Australian states/territories. enough said.  

A couple or so years ago, EMTs were asked to remove the red/blue lights as they were not an emergency ambulance service. They defied the odds and got to keep the lights. It is a pity that the DTEI manager did not persue it more and had their licence pulled altogether.Comment removed.:roll:

It eventually had to happen. As look at ALL the new vehicles etc that had been leased or bought when SAAS went government. The impression that I got was there was a big money tree all of a sudden in the back yard and every single dollar was shaken off it. And being an ex SA Government employee, I can see that there is a big build up of top brass needing to be got rid off.  :-)

Definitely forget the U.S. system that you are trying to ?run, Blackfoot. A dumb quote someone told me " The american teaching is the only way"! Pfft :roll:

Total waste of tax payers' funds since going government. :-P

It may go to an interstate car dealer who specialises in ex emergency vehicles like the F350 diesel ambulances at the government auctions did recently. The dealer paid approx $30,000 and he asking for around $42,000 for on Ebay. So go figure. :roll:

Vehicle is an ex IMSSA ambulance and have seen it around Adelaide. Very nice  :-)

Do not think we need anymore SAAS stations in Adelaide. They are strategically placed throughout Metropolitan Adelaide. just need more crews to handle the increase in population and a complete change in medical direction with new ideas and not an old ideology.  :lol:
