I'll be giving it another go. Hopefully this time will be the time

All teams have arrived, except Northern Territory - they had some problems with flights - so only one NT rep was able to make it to Government House for a reception this evening....

All teams will undertake eight exercises over the weekend - all teams do all exercises - 4 on each day

Some of the exercises look very interesting!!

Photos to come!

Pip

Hi Pip

do you happen to have any of the photos from the rescue comps mainly the SA team..??

If so any chance of emailing some or posting some. Would like to have some to show the guys for our end of year video.

SASES / Re: SES familiarisation thread
« on: July 20, 2011, 11:08:23 PM »
Sorry to add to an old thread, but am doing some study on SES Units and would like to get some basic info.
What is the Unit building called, ie shed, building or station etc, and how does the vehicle numbering go, where the vehicle has a two digit number but the callsign is three.
Thanks in advance.

Ashes

I don't know what other SES units call their buildings but we call ours either unit, HQ or LHQ.

The 2 digit number relates to the type and number of the vehicle. Similar rip off from the CFS and MFS.

41
4 = 4x4 1 = vehicle number in the unit
31
3 = Truck 1 = vehicle number in the unit
91 = The SES hook lift
61 = The flat bed truck?

hope this helps a bit

State Rescue comps are this weekend and the gully is back again! Come on guys and go the gullys!!!!

State Rescue Comps are over for another year. 1st Tea Tree Gully 1, 2nd Noarlunga, 3rd Tea Tree Gully 2. Was a close scorecard between 1-2 and 2-3

So off to the Wayville Showgrounds we go for the Nationals on 9 - 10 July.

Was a good weekend all up. The rain decided to show up and see how the comps went but that didn't deter anyone.

Are you sure the page is not a duplicate for the Adelaide Uni Road Crash Research unit.....

I don't think I have seen an actual page to the various doctors that attend.....

Pip

It maybe. Not 100% sure

Would anybody be able to explain to me why MedSTAR is not seen on the online pagers. You can always here radio contact between them and comms but when there are incidents requiring the chopper, MedSTAR are not paged (only CFS or SES to prepare landing ground). And also, SOT are not paged for general messages and net calls test pages.  :?

try to see if this pager site is any better than sascan

Thats fair enough though. They did tell me its  a hard process to be able to keep on top of for the interview feed backs.

I got no probs with still trying gasman. I'll keep going till I get there in the end.

PID = Postion Information Document. You were right Ferret

Hey USAR, did you take them up on the feed back after your interview? What did they tell you, purely for interest sake of course. I have had the same feed back two years running.....

The sucky thing with my feedback was that I didn't get my feedback from who interviewed me. They just went by what notes that were written.

I was told that I didn't give enough information /  detail in my answers to their questions relating to the PID. Although I was told my note taking was good that I wrote down to prompt myself for my answers.

Hopefully I can get further this year.

Does anyone happen to know the order in which the components of the recruitment takes place?

Cheers

Last year they did PAT 1 first then aptitude and profiling then interview. Dont know about any of the rest. I only got to the interview.

But when you do PAT 1 you have to have License, 1st aid cert and typing cert with you so they can sight them other wise you wont be able to try out. They are strict with that

It was that before. They have just simplified it for people to understand. Used to be either unrestricted Heavy Rigid or Heavy Rigid with condition A or B which is automatic or syncromesh. So the only thing they have taken out is the Automatic.

For a different option, i see MFB are recruiting too:

although the entrance test is a bit harder than the SAMFS. Ive tried for the MFB bfore and the 1st entrance test is like a uni STAT test

So what they just got a bit too close to the edge did they?

They were driving down the track. Their 14 went through and when the 34 got down the back end stepped out on them. There was even someone on the crew deck.

Hmmm, not sure what the SES could do , sounds like a call for TRUCKWORKS  :-D

The vehicle was secured by ropes by SES overnight, and from the sound of things there were issues on scene so much so that an SES Commander had to attend.Interesting listening :-D

There was nothing the driver could have done to avoid the situation. Was a good job of it though. Lucky they all got out ok.

Yeah it was secured overnight and recovered the following day. SES commander didnt come on scene. The only issues were of the appliance further shifting and no close anchor points to secure.

TTG CFS page was for their safety officer (OIC) who wanted to oversee what was happening.

Well done TTG SES, good to see your true skills come to the fore -front!, ........I'am still waiting to have my gutters cleaned out by the way! as per original request (task 086 I believe), priorty 2 still okay , I will upgrade priority if and when initial inspection warrants, cheers  Jaff

Thanks everyone..
It was a hot weekend up there for it. Swear our crew drank half of the Murray.

No probs Jaff we can upgrade it to priority 1 for you just to make it safe. LOL
