Onkaparinga Gorge (4-12-06)
And the list goes on.
Maybe I should have asked where we have not been.
We get older, smarter and wiser, yet we still say yes.
Stay Safe
People would put their hands up for more if they didnt call everyone in and make them sit around for hours and do nothing, instead of using the resources they requested when they got there.
Strike Teams are a requested resource requiring immediate response and action on the fireground :-)
Yes. I agree. And it seems to be getting worse. Just got back from Waikerie. Deployed for Port Elliot at 3am. Arrived 7.30am. Sent to fire ground and sat under a tree till 4pm. Got 1st feed at 4.45pm and used 500 litres of water for the day. 10 litre was for washing hands to eat. Day 2 deployed 7.30 am and sat under tree till 6pm. Returned to Waikerie by 7.30pm. 500 lites water used for complete deployement
SITUATION NORMAL! HURRY UP AND WAIT!

Watch out sitting under that tree it might get hit by lightning
Its a joke isnt it,and what are these IMT teams thinking when they drag all these resources in and hardly use them.
WTF
Well I was in CFA in 83 so ASH WED's and have been to many large fire's while in the service there... Since joining cfs some 7 years ago. (1) KI (2) Victoria high country (3) that park north of us twice(4) many border trips to help our local cfa brigade's

You could have a heap of post by the end of summer
talking of Cox Scrub fire, anyone find a green CFS baseball cap...?? I seemed to have misplaced Mine..might been near the portable dam or staging area on hill above it
Thanks
So, who has not been to Mt Bold yet.
it was a nice sunday drive down there and back the other day with our strike team, found a very nice fishing hole but we did not pack the rods......
We were there Thursday night / Friday Morning. Pretty busy to for night shift. We saw some good spots for fishings to.
I can add Mt Bold to the list now again
I can add onka and mt bold to my list. Onka was night shift, just blacking out and backburning. Mt bold however, jeez that was nuts. good experience though.
didnt make it unfortunately.... work just didnt match up for any of the 4 shifts my brigade did :-P
Im sure there will be others Medevac...fire season aint over yet
We had a good call yesterday 25/1/07. 35 spots along the train line between Goolwa and Chiton Rocks were either smoking or burning due to some type of problem with the Steam Train.
It was just like the old days.
Bet you didnt do 35 fire reports :-D
Beleive it or not ive been to a fire in Dalhousie Springs, which is about 120Km from the NT border whilst at National Sparks
