G'day interstate counterparts,
Just thought you might like to know I saw Murray Bridge's new 'Type 2' Pumper looking pretty much completed through a garage door at SEM's (formerly Skilled Engineering) workshop in Wendouree (Ballarat) today.
Cheers,
James 'DJ Wiz' Witham
Volunteer Firefighter
Sebastopol CFA (formerly Portland CFA).
p.s. For anyone who may be interested, I've put up an online stream of my scanner here in Ballarat. It's tuned to the Region 15 (Ballarat and district) channel which has traffic for the greater Ballarat area and outlying groups also VicFire Ballarat Dispatch ch. 201 which has surrounding brigades in Regions 6, 15 & 16. For anyone who wants a listen the URL is http://cfa-ballarat.ham-radio-op.net:8000 (http://cfa-ballarat.ham-radio-op.net:8000).
Still think theres other brigades out there who need one more than them, i mean why does the bridge need a third pump.
Anyway surley a 34P would be much more suited to them seeing the town is surrounded by a lot of rural area.
salisbury need a type2
It isn't a third pump...it is a replacement for the temporary one they have now, which replaced the one that crashed...so they will end up with two appliances.....
there not getting a third pump as pip said... its too go there permanently and retire the old belair pumper which is a temporary replacement after there bingle....
salisbury dont need a type 2, whats your basis for this?
they have predomianntly urban response area and go to a fair load of structure fires. They need it more than Hahndorf did.
^^lol theres no doubt about that... but isnt a type two the only appliance that would fit in hahndorf stn....?
Salisbury dual respond to all... well most, urban jobs in there with an MFS pump.... i dont think it would be necessary. nice, but not necessary.
im in an urban brigade, do we deserve one? lmao cos it would never happen
The three pumpers i'm talking about include two red ones up the road from them.....
has anyone heard when we the investigation into their 'bingle' is due to be completed? Would be interested to see the official findings.
would these things even be made public
i highly doubt that it would be made public.

aww come on wat about region 5 we been getting calls left right and center atm
and kool wat is the brand of the truck?
isuzu, hino?
our pumper has been damaged in an accident, the drive threw it in reverse and hit a captain from a diff brigade's personal car, the pump is all bent and it leaks water from the main part of the pump
Much easier to justify a pumper for Murray bridge than for Sailsbury or Burnside!
At least Murray Bridge have large and expanding industry in their primary response area for which they are responsible! Their urban/industrial risks are increasing.
Interest thought, that we would put in a pumper primarily on the basis of supporting MFS - I guess they will be paying for it due to their inability to meet their communities requirements can the constant calls to CFS to provide that service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Type 2 Pumpers are built on an Isuzu FTR900 Turbo Cab Chassis

I have a feeling he is referring to Region 5 CFA

Thats easy fixed, give the area to the MFS then they wont need it.

Major Crash spent 8 hours there so I dont think it will be pretty
Thats what you get when you hit an intersection waaay too fast.
I dont think its fair that we comment on what did or didn't happen at the bridge, the brigade and its members have been through enough so lets drop it. as for them having a pumper, well the area is growing in size and industry so give it to them.Hope they enjoy the type two as they are a great appliances.....
did anyone die in that rollover?
No

Yea right - trying to keep MFS inside their boundaries across the state is hard enough!
At least MB CFS can respond with a crew each time thier pagers are activated - not the same can be said for another service in Murray Bridge.
As for giving areas away - better to start that in town first rather than looking in country areas!
mmm, the southern suburbs and mt barker issues are bigger fish to fry for the MFS at the moment.
murray bridge need a pumper, purely for the fact that backing up the MFS. next nearest pumping resource is mt barker.......or jervois tanker!

lol - did anyone else notice pt lincoln MFS get paged to a grassie 30km north of Lincoln... LMAO; someone had there brain in neutral when they sent that response...
Murray bridge must be getting close to getting it, saw it at NE Isuzu today as i was passing thru.
I did have someone tell me that they get it in two weeks???
fine looking machine i must say though.
Was talking to a CFA staff member the other day he was saying that they want to go back to mid mount pumps with 90 meter twin hose lines on all new pumpers. If that is the case then they are looking at getting a hell of alot of new pumpers....
Thank god... Now if only that sense would filter accross to us.
has anyone got any photos of the appliance?

Maybe the CFS can buy up the type 2's for a bargain price?
