REPEAT BLAZE AT ANDAMOOKA AREA SCHOOL
8:30 AM 2 March 2006

Fire has caused more than half a million dollars damage to the Andamooka Area School in the state's north overnight.

It is the second fire at the school in as many months, and the third in the past year.

The blaze started soon after 12.30am today and destroyed a shed and a temporary building used for teaching art and craft.

About 20 SA Country Fire Service volunteer firefighters from the Andamooka and Roxby Downs Brigades responded with some wearing breathing apparatus as they battled to control the blaze for nearly an hour.

CFS crews were successful in protecting a neighbouring property and a power plant.

Firefighters remained at the scene for most of the night to fully extinguish the fire and salvage any undamaged property.

The fire that occurred earlier this year on 18 January quickly took hold of the administrative block, including the Principals Office, and a newly refurbished computer room.

Fire Cause Investigators will arrive at the school later this morning to determine how the blaze started.

SA Police is assisting the investigation.

poor guys, they can't catch a break. I feel really sorry for them.

hey Probie, how long you been in CFS? wait and see what fire/police crime scene come up with dont jump the gun there may be a good reason why the place went up in smoke. workmen could have left something on or a short in the wiring.. I will buy you a state map so you know where all these nice places are, better still you could buy it yourself.

Angaston got a torched as well.  Schools arent having a lot of luck,  remember years ago coming to school in the morning to see a classroom guttered at Gawler East.  Even joked when the fire trucks went past that the school was on fire...

We had a couple bin fires at the Goolwa PS last week, one was under one of the classroom verandah's luckily they didn't know how to light a fire very well because that bin didn't take hold
