Expect 4 information sessions for new recruitment to be coming up at the end of June.
What's the go with recruitment this year? I didn't make it past the aptitude testing and got a no thanks email, I've heard ppl have been told
They can't re apply until 2020 but that wasn't instructed to me on my email. Anyone got any ideals on that? Generally it's a 12 month wait to re sit tests for safe select testing materials.
The abilities testing is valid for 2 years if you pass, therefore if you do not pass, you can not apply for another 2 years as you would be in the same pool of people that passed when you didn't unfortunately
It's says on new applications if you applied in 2018 than you can apply this campaign.
So this group of applicants get to sit the personality profiling and aptitude at home on their own computer?? And then it's meant to be fair that their results mix in with the people that remain in pool who sat it under much different conditions.
Canine,
Doesn't seem like they would get consistent results. Potential for people to have someone over their shoulder trying to 'help'. They may only be 'hurting themselves' but they will also skew results.
Hey guys,
Put my hat into the ring this year. First time.
Have had a read of what's in store. Would love to hear from people that have had some success with the recruitment if they have any pointers with the testing and if there's any study that can help. Online personality and aptitude testing first up.
I did the cognify testing today and 100% would've preferred a standardised testing environment as opposed to those games.
I've spent the last few weeks preparing and it was nothing like I had prepared for.
Add in the fact that my internet kept cutting out and having troubles with my mouse just made it all that much more frustrating :x
Good luck to everybody else and fingers crossed for good news for all.
Seems strange that results from last year (people in the Stay Fit) are going to be compared with a totally different testing system.
Hopefully you did better then you think TexMex!
Hey Tex Mex, are these games like revelian cognitive games now? No real way to study for these I've heard
Thanks FireyV, I hope so too!
SamnyT - yeah, they were the revelian cognify games.
Not complaining as I know I could've done better but I definitely didn't feel it was the most accurate way to measure a person's cognitive ability with just the games alone.
I know FRNSW used it last year in conjunction with the RCAT etc but scrapped the games this year.
Whatever be the case I wish everyone good luck and hope to see you guy at the PAT
Has anyone received any feedback from the abilities testing yet?
I was unable to do the Revelian test as they used results from the NSW campaign last year. And also wasn't required to do the psychological stuff as apparently last years SAMFS one was good enough
I thought you couldn't apply this time if you applied last time?
And don't expect any meaningful feedback
I didn't do application they just sent an email saying Further to previous correspondence your application in the 2018 Firefighter Recruitment and Selection Campaign remains valid and you are now invited to re-contest the Online Cognitive Ability assessment.
Hopefully they give word soon for PAT1
1500 new applicants from latest applications.
Has anyone received or heard of someone receiving an invite to the PAT1 testing yet?
I haven't heard anything yet and my Revelian results still haven't been released.
According to the calendar we should hopefully be hearing something shortly so fingers crossed and good luck!
Anyone heard anything?
Yeah I got unsuccessful email yesterday, what do they expect when they use results that were previously unsuccessful. Fell short by half a month to reattempt test. All the best ladies and gents hopefully next year is my year.

So did U have to pay another $100?
No didn't pay $100 again it just carried on from last years campaign.
I've still not heard anything. Hoping for the best but prepared for whatever. Good luck to everyone :)
Hi guys/girls, I created this account just to let you know I received an unsuccessful email today, and to say thanks to everyone who's posted here and in the 2018 thread (and previous years), it's been good info!
I received an email stating that while I achieved a satisfactory result in the cognitive ability assessments, the results from my personality and behavioural assessment has placed me in a position that will not see me progress in this process, and that this result remains valid for 2 years.
Does anyone have any advice on how to better prepare and complete the personality profiler for 2 years time when I am eligible to re-apply? I'm quite confused as I felt that I answered the ~300 questions honestly and accurately, and my real-world personality/behaviours truly reflects that which the MFS outlined as required on their website. It's a difficult way to fail, as it's not due to lack of effort, skills, abilities, organisation, or fitness, and as we all know, we can't get any feedback from the MFS.
Thanks again everyone, and good luck to those still in the mix, I look forward to hearing about the journey!

The profiling is all.about your risk score. There are plenty of websites around that have sample questions. However if you improve you profiling too much from one test tomtje next then this will also see you not progress.
Received an email last Friday saying this
Dear Applicant
Your completed Cognitive Ability Assessment is acknowledged and we advise that you have been successful in achieving a satisfactory result to continue in the process.
To aid the MFS in ensuring currency of applicant profiles, we require you to now complete the Online Personality and Behavioural Assessment component.
Did the personality test a few days back now just playing the waiting game.

I received the same email. What's confusing is that all the "practice" tests gave me excellent suitability scores so I am not really too sure where I went wrong although apparently some of them may flag you if it thinks you're trying to be too perfect, who knows.
I would've liked to know what parts of my behaviour need improvement to work on genuine change for the next time around but I've got two years to figure it out :-D
All the best to everyone else still going!
Wait you received the same email to do the psych and got one back saying unsuccessful s?? When did you do it and how long did they take to get back to you?

I feel the same mate. I made sure not to 'strongly' agree/disagree with anything unless I could back that opinion up in an interview, and only clicked the 'unsure' (or whatever the middle ground option was) 2 or 3 times. I guess the difference is that this test had the MFS on the other side with a very specific profile in mind, and the practice tests are generic.
This is probably the worst phase to 'fail' in, because we have absolutely no idea what went wrong and where to improve, especially when I'm confident that my personality and behaviour traits would be an excellent fit to what was outlined in the position information document. They've always said to answer honestly and don't over think the questions, makes it hard to improve on if you've already done that, the answers in the future test will be exactly the same!
If I could only pass the personality test and get myself in front of an interview panel, then I wouldn't feel so bad about dropping out after I've had a proper chance to explain myself, my experiences, my motives etc.
I've set the date on a 2021 calendar already.
Yeah, who knows how they score it mate. Disappointing yes, but not the end of the world. I would've loved some feedback as well as to what my shortcomings were but try not to get too down about the "what if" side of things.
Two years is definitely a long wait and knowing that if your answers change too much they also flag it doesn't sound too hopeful but I'll keep trying and will eventually get there.
There is also a how much does the test think you are bull shitting score, if its too high U also don't progress
Anyone received an invitation to the PAT1?

Anyone received an invitation to the PAT1?
I am still waiting to hear mate. Thought about emailing HR but haven't yet.
Having passed the psych and revelian doesnt guarantee a pat1, there was applicants still left over from last process still in the mix.
Advisory dates have been removed from the recruitment schedule calendar.
Just got an 'unlikely to be invited to pat1'
Says they had lots of applicants this year.

Same here
Yep got the same unlikely email
Anyone from the 2018 "keep fit" pool that didn't get an unlikely to progress email?
Seems a bit rough that these applicants were mixed in and directly compared against the 2019 applicants who undertook different testing under different conditions...
From the sounds of things all of us from 2018 recruitment have received the same email. It's a bit vague whether it's an outright dismissal the way it was worded "unlikely". It's a shame no more information can be provided on future progression.
I also received this "unlikely" email. I'll cop it on the chin even though I don't really understand how you can compare a supervised test to one undertaken around home. But best of luck to everyone in with a chance.
First line of the MFS recruitment policy: All recruitment processes will be conducted in a fair and equitable manner.
Doesn't appear that is the case......

Stop being a sook. If you want to know why you haven't processed perhaps try some self reflection. A self entitled whinger who has no self awareness and blames other people and/or the process rather than taking responsibility for the outcomes of their own responses and actions is not what the MFS is looking for.
Left foot snap, I personally don't have a problem with what has happened although I can understand how some people can feel a bit jibbed going through one process to then have to compete with people that went through a completely different process.
I don't think calling anyone a sook will help either.

Where did I sook or say I havnt progressed??
I and others on this forum don't think it's fair and equitable for applicants merging in to the same process to complete testing under different conditions. Not sure how U can argue with that.
@Canine I agree, we can't begin to speculate the reasoning behind it but I think our applications should've taken precedent seeing as the testing was different and that we were deemed good enough to pass the first gateway. Either we passed and we are able to progress or we didn't and our applications should of ceased, we shouldn't be stuck in limbo like we are and then be stepped over because there's an abundance of new applicants. We all worked very hard to get through this process like everyone else, its definitely a bad position that we've found ourselves in.
Yep its interesting
I had a mate that didn't get through it jokingly say to me we'll have to do the test together next time! Maybe he wasn't joking!
Oh well, just keep plugging away and try again next time, although the email did say unlikely to progress so they haven't burnt our bridges fully! You never know!
So last post 11th October and the MFS website still says To Be Advised...
Has anyone heard anything, or have they just frozen the process?
The entire process has broken down, everyone is in the same boat atm.
I couldn't make it this morning but did anyone happen to go to the MFS open day today?
Any insights on the current recruitment process or perhaps any information on what recruitment is going to look like next year?

I heard the first squad next year will start in April/May
There are updated dates on the recruitment process page on the MFS website. PAT1 underway this week according to the website.
w/c 16 Dec - PAT 1
w/c 20 Jan - Interview
w/c 10 Feb onwards - PAT 2, pre employment checks, licencing, and offers
Has anybody heard back about interviews? As far as I am aware they are to commence the week of 20/1. I have completed my aptitude & PAT1 'successfully' but I am racking my brain as its starting to cut it close to the dates for interviews and I would like to plan a holiday around the time of interviews.
Thanks.
How is everyone tracking?
I had PAT2 this week and passed. Medical next week, then uniform fittings.
Anyone know how long after medical you're likely to hear anything?
From my understanding there's a squad starting mid April.
PS- Not sure about anyone else, but this forum only loads when I'm using mobile date. Doesn't work on wifi! Weird!
What effect has COVID-19 had on the second drill squad and the likelihood of recruitment applications opening this year?
Also only able to access this site when on wifi.
Have lost track of where 2018/19 recruit process is at. How many drill squads were run from the original 2018 applicants and how many since mixing in the 2019 applicants?

Having similar issues, often getting an error message when accessing this site.
It's been a very long time since there has been any activity on here. We're approaching the time of year the last couple of recruitments have started, has anyone heard any rumours about any potential recruitment processes starting?
Hi Gpats
Yep, not much action happening!
Have heard that the 2019 recruitment will continue soon.
Not sure if there will be a new recruit drive this year.
