I noticed Happy Valley 34P and HV Pumper has the "10 is too old" advertising sticker on both side roller shutters. Not a bad idea. Brigade initiative?
Sort of, we got them from CFS HQ, took a while to put them on, gotta cut each bit of shutter on the locker....not sure how many they have, probably worth asking.
Yeah noticed them a while ago. Have been talking to people in my brigade about it and will inquire futher. Darren, did they give them to you or brigade cost involved?
They were issued to most brigades in region one a while back. When i was in Sturt Group we recieved them from region, but had direction from the group not to utilise them.
I do hope this is in reference to Smoke Alarms...
These are a great way to promote fire safety and other states have been doing it for years...Shame that some groups wont let brigades use them on appliances...

lmao..... sadly I recognise the way your thinking works...lol
Adam, the "10 years is too old" campaign was a joint statewide CFS/MFS initaitive and was rolled out on 15/02/2010.
All MFS appliances have the stickers promoting the campaign, and there are some CFS appliances with them also.
Why a Group would not want to participate in getting the message across to the public for the safety of their homes and families escapes me.
One death from a house fire not fitted with approved smoke detectors is a recipe for disaster.
You can contact MFS Community Safety, District Officer Alan Foster,or Fiona Dunstan from CFS HQ for availability of the stickers.

yes - 10 years is too old for an appliance....espcially given that we all pay our ESL!

Just curious, how do you get the sticker off the roller shutter without leaving a sticky mess when the advertising is finished ?
All I can imagine is a stuck shutter because the sticky bits folded against a runner or somnething......
How do u normally clean up a sticky mess???

Personally I use eucalyptus oil........

What they said...
Don't use hot water as it causes it to coagulate. Especially bad if you've managed to get some of the uh... 'glue' in your hair.

Except that 10 years is too young in that case.

I believe that most glue will go off if not used within a certain period. Its best to ensure that its used regularly, and in fact I would suggest that 10 years is FAR too old for glue to sit unused.
^^^ LOL
In all seriousness though, orange oil (or most citrus oils) will do the trick on glues like that, and leave a nice smell to boot! (until summr and it gets a nice layer of ash over the top!)
