Has anyone else been having intermittent troubles accessing SAFF over the last couple of days?
No. Maybe the Internet is trying to tell you something?
Perhaps...
Me too - Are you using Adam???? Looks like a DNS Network issue via Adam. But am having people look at it. I don't think it's the fault of Adam though.......
Adam and Internode users it seems (including myself)
Believe its a Telstra Wholesale Internet issue.
Internode seems to be all good for me ?!?!

I'm also with Internode, (and it seems like a DNS problem for me too), but I'm also connected to an Agile DSLAM, so it's unlikely to be Telstra's fault, (as much as I'd like it to be :P ).
right now im using SAFF through a Proxy divertor, because SAFF doesnt exist on this 100megabit connection! lol
Curios..
Im using Dodo Broadband and seem to be having the same problem with access :|
I've been having problems for the last week or so. On Internode as well.
Dito Picknowl
Bigpond, and not a problem in sight.
AH its always the telstra guys who get it easy
problems with internode
Well I'm glad it's not just me :)
SAFF has been going on and offline almost daily for the last week and seems to mysteriously come back on at night time.
Big pond and I'm having problems every so often
A threat to the global DNS infrastructure was issued approximately a month ago. Some companies are still dealing with the issue, but it could 'slow down' all DNS infrastructure.
If you need more information, do a search on 'DNS Cache Poisoning Public Exploit Code' or have a look at http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/techalerts/TA08-190B.html
I believe majority of the Australian ISP's (incl Internode) & government DNS facilities advised their systems were fixed on end July/early August, but it could be where the SAFF site is hosted.
Or maybe the site is overloaded or some other eason.
We are checking a DNS server issue now! Looks like there is a problem with our hosts DNS records.
I wish I had known sooner that others could not get on , I initially thought it was a problem with my IP address being blocked somewhere. :x :x :x

I would suggest you signup to the http://www.auscert.org.au/ bulletins which is the accurate computer/IT threats register across all IT technologies. Otherwise just keep an eye on the webpage regularly.
The latest update on the 'DNS Cache Poisoning' was issued by AusCert on 22/08/2008 ref 'ESB-2008.0821'.
The company I work for issued a USA based notification worldwide on the 24/07/2008. Refer http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/800113 (I work for a different company that uses the resources to verify the threat). Checks/upgrades to client infrastructure was completed shortly after to protect their IT systems.
The Microsoft patch file fix MS08-037 had been issued on the 08/07/2008, so the threat was affecting people who had not patched & other technologies. The Novell patch was issued approx 17/07/2008.
For other people, DNS (Domain Naming System) is the internet protocol that enables you to type in a name address in your internet browser (eg www.safirefighter.com). DNS will then interpret the name to the correct servers unique IP address and thus connect you.
So if the worldwide DNS system stopped, no internet or computer communication.
for all you guys at home, expanding on what DNS is: www.safirefighter.com is the same as 72.249.94.153
Wouldnt we hate to use numbers, numbers! :D
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH all this computer tech talk is doing my head in! :?
We are still trying to get this resolved. Cogs turning slowly though!!!!
Nerds.
