Gday,
Just seen on the news about the willunga hill scrub fire.
9 Firefighters injured & 1 house destroyed as well as numerous sheds.
Anyone with more details?
Lets hope the FF's will be ok.
On scanner sounds like 1 truck has has rolled or tipped but all crew ok
I think from speaking to some guys down there a truck was burntover?? and 2-4 FFs were slightly burnt & got smoke inhalation. (not sure how correct this is)
Bittenyakka did you hear the mayday call?
No but mum said the radio news mentioned that
The FFs who got burnt apparently put a mayday call out.
You where right bitten see attached.

Fallback lines seem to cover a 850 hectare fireground plus and minus.
I understand the may day call came from range hope 24,and that port elliot appliance was involved in the roll over(partial)....Its going to be another hot few days so drink water...stay kool...come home safe......
Wasn't really a roll over elliot were just stuck in a creek on a odd angle for a little while until a grader pulled them out...
And our 34 was side swiped by a fellow appliance at the service station while getting fuel, ohh well new hose reel to go on the region's bill.
Anyone with images yet?
SAFirey has put some up on ozfire

I think it was actually R/HP 34. There was also some suggestion after the mayday call went out that a Seaford appliance was in trouble too, but I never heard how.
did a overnight 9pm till 9am shift down at willunga (last strike team for me for a while i think...pretty much zonked out :P)
conditions overnight let our strike team completely blacken out the South Eastern area below Range road, with several small flare ups.
interesting to see Keiths FFDI is presently 160.
anywho...off to another grassie call...for a few mins
Hey zippy did you come down and fill from Goolwa 34 at the dam in the wee small hours??
Range Hope Forest and Seaford were conducting asset protection on a house when they were burnt over. RHF put out a mayday message that resulted in a heli-attack dropping a load of water on Seaford 24. The house was lost. Three crew from Seaford were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, general burns and burns to the airway. I believe one person was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide from RHF.
I know 2 of our members are fine. Hope all others are well too.
Now Jono, where was the helmet camera during all of this?!?! Here was your chance for 15 minutes of fame!
But seriously, I hope all members are ok and have learnt from the experience.
Hope every one is ok, sounded full on for a while. To anyone that has to go to a fire in the next couple of extreme days, STAY SAFE.
Yeah I know. I was at work when the job happened. Even though we were never responded by pager....

I don't want to talk about that pump.
I stumbled across some un-edited film crew footage of the fire, Some great shots. Once I can be bothered I will host some up on youtube.

Please do
I think most of us there in the first few hours were too busy to even think about cameras.

Jono, if that is the DVD that I gave to your brigade last night then I would rather you didn't put it on You Tube.
Posting it on You Tube implies you have the copyright to that material which you don't, in this case the vision was given to the brigade for training and debriefing use.

Ahhh, thats where it came from! No probs matt.
There are somethings that should not be posted on UTUBE and the DVD may contain information that is best viewed behind closed fire station doors...
