Naracoorte has been very busy of late, house fire total loss around $150,00 afew mvs and the old fixed alarm. One of the main problems of late at working jobs has been fire plugs that are full of rubbish or plugs that dont have any blue markers.
^^ Sounds like you have worked out the next fortnight of training :-P .. Clearing Hydrant plugs :-D
But are ground plugs our job to look after???? They are there for our use and it is SA water job to clean out and put the blue markers back on the road not our's
Your right Bill
But I can bet SA Water arnt going to be doing anything about it in a hurry......
Its one of those things, you can bet if you dont do it, you're going to need one again in the near future.... murphy's law!!!!
Don't know about the blue marker roll out... Is it a SA Water agreed thing now that they will place them everywhere throughout the state? Hope so, I thought it was just being done on a local basis, local government paying. Can someone fill me in please? :?

Any Interesting Read If Your Interested In How The Fire Plugs/Pit's Are Constructed.
Sorry Was Unable To Find Any Info On The Blue Markers.
This thread was moved from forum suggestions to here. More appropriate area.
This issue seams to go on and on and on!
Some brigades have taken it upon themselves to put them around their area (ie in an Urban area Happy Valley), whilst others have arranged for SAWater to use their areas as test cases (ie just out of Port Pirie on Hwy 1)
CFS/MFS and SAWater seam to have this ongoing problem about who's responsible for their instillation and maintenance - the CFAct 1989 states
"Interference with fire plugs etc
60. A person must not—
(a)cover up or conceal a fire plug or hydrant; or
(b)remove or obliterate any mark, sign or letter used to indicate the position of a fire plug or hydrant.
Penalty:Division 7 fine."
Only problem - it fails to say who should put them in!
When you travel interstate you see a number of combinations, blue markers, blue markers with yellow arrows and alike - but the common thread is blue markers.
Unfortunately maybe this is yet another political issue that will take a death or similar to resolve.
Small problem to resolve, however it continues to be a great and grave problem.

I think the Blue markers were (still are) all ready to be put out, but there is a few'd about who will pay for it. E.G - SA WATER, Road Transport, Council, CFS... list goes one. (As always, no one wants to pay)-
And i Don't know bout H/V - Never heard that they put there own out... And haven't seen any when driving through.
