It was a touch busy yesterday wasn't it Jono.
Nine jobs for us since Thursday night, none of them worth getting too excited about though.
1 tiny grassie started by a flying burning bunch of feathers.

What the-?
I heard a recent story about a fire being started by a flaming magpie. Had hit a powerline or something. Sounds a bit bizarre to me :|
My pager hasn't gone off all day (shouldn't have said that should I....)
Looking at the pager website Blue sounds like Mt Gambier had a busy overnight period Thurs/Fri, in fact I think you guys do more calls at night than the perms do during the day?
Be alright doing 9 calls in 2 days if you were retained !! :-D

Yes flaming rather deceased bird, had 2 fires start by flaming cockatiels on our property last year. filthy buggers kept tripping the power off!!!!
Happy valley had two recent fires started by flaming balls of ring-tailed fur. :-D
I responded to between 5-10 car accidents on Saturday night as a fire fighter with the Borderline Speedway fire crew the best part was riding around on the back of the speedway fire response ute everytime a sprintcar or cars crashed or smashed into each other :-D
Theres a chance i might be called up to be on the fire crew again for the Figure 8's & Demolition Derby cause i did real well and followed orders :-)
Hey Rob were you the one in the fluro yellow hat?
Yep that was me in the nomex flash hood and the green fluro hat athol :-D
I told you we should of taken the chance and thrown the mud at the guy with the yellow hat!
At worst we would of it Bang Bang which isnt a bad thing!

Say again Camo, over
Yep pumprescue, got the statistics up a bit those nights - nothing too serious. The rest of easter has been very quiet thankfully.
Well done Robert, I didn't make it to any races but I could hear some from my place at night! Or maybe that was just the local hoons...

It sounds like you were listening to the actual sprintcar action Blue cause they use UHF Radio and you must have tuned over the right frequency thats why there was so much action on your scanner
This is the pager message when SAAS were called out to the speedway after one of the sprintcar drivers slammed into a safety wall
1908547 19:56:50 07-04-07 MG181 Cat2 Jubilee Hwy E, Mount Gambier C173 A12
Mind you i ended up keeping an eye on both sprintcars involved in this crash whilst the crash crew were trying to move them incase a fire broke out although my supervisor and the fire unit driver were more involved with fire cover on that car which slammed into the safety wall
So i cant take all the credit

How about sharing a few with some other brigades... :-)
We have been very very quiet, have some newbies (and some older ones) just hanging out for a call. Any call. Tree down, smoke sighting, unattended camp fire. Anything.
Pip
dunno bout tree downs and smoke sighings...... a decent structure jobbie wouldnt go astray though :D
Hey Pip our entire group has been fairly quiet hasn't it :-( but i had a good easter and ate to much chocolate

2 MVA's for the whole weekend gotta love it when its not too busy
Your lucky then SA Firey cause as i said in my previous post the Borderline Speedway Fire Crew had their hands full with numerous spintcar prangs were just lucky that the cars didnt catch on fire
Your a hero Robert 34
Spent a couple of hours at a Garden Mulch Plant. Mulch piles had self combusted.
Bomber 583 did 2 drops. Wandilo 34, Compton 24 & Mil Lel 34 plus Wandilo Tanker. As well as 4 Firekings and about 2 Forestry Tankers.
Bit of overkill but was a great photo op. Only problem was i didnt have a camera!
Abit of an unusal incident Camo  even though it was abit of an overkill you can never be too careful especially seeing as how the drought is refusing to go away :-)
