On the way to work last Wednesday afternoon, saw 421 heading South up Panaltinga Rd through Woodcroft/Reynella East priority 1. When I got to work, checked paging resource, no pages to southern CFS brigades at all. Anyone have any idea what they were responding to?
As I said, just curious. Not suggesting any breach of boundaries, or job snatching or anything negative. :-D

how did you get the MDT message?
You in MFS comms or you worked out how to decode them?
Thanks Comms, yep, that would be the one.
I second Camo, where DID you get that info?? Though your handle probably givees that away!
Still doesn't completely satisfy my curiosity, why would 8124 not be paged to that one, definately the nearest resource. Didn't think they were tied up elswhere. Curiouser and Curiouser.
Would be a boundary issue, MFS only go cause its their area. full stop.
It is in MFS area, according to the EMA agreement CFS is not generally responded to Private or Fixed Alarms in MFS area, even if they are the closest resource.
Having said that though we have been responded to plenty of alarms in MFS area in the past, including to that school and another just up the road from it.
It will be interesting to see whether this remains in place when SA-CAD comes in, the whole 'Responding the closest resource' thing might mean that we start going as automatic response to these alarms.
Must be looking forward to that Matt jump from 400 calls to 600 :-P
Bugger that.
Then there is a CFA vollie station that have run to 200+ jobs since january now thats commitment. :|
Thanks Matt, cleared that up.
Cheers.

No 421 in this despatch but may have been busy? Morphettvale responded because of this or as part of a response plan?
Generally if it is a fire or MVA or similar and a CFS resource ia as close or closer than an MFS one the CFS will get called as per EMA agreement. I said generally , this does not always happen.

Morphett Vale went to the School Fire because it is closer than O'Halloran Hill. I think 421 then did Change of Quarters to Christie Downs. This is how the system is meant to work, CFS generally go to jobs that they are closest to but not Private or Fixed alarms.

Will be interesting to see what happens, this year we are still looking around the 400 - 450 mark, still though the brigade isn't having too much trouble handling it. Going by the maps we have seen so far it looks like once SACAD comes in we will definitely be going to more jobs in MFS area automatically.
Careful Matt you might get a red truck parked in your station if you get too many :-P
I think we are ok Jeff, as you know MFS already respond to most of our incidents anyway and putting a truck in a station only five minutes away from Christies and the new Seaford station would provide little benefit.
We'll just keep doing our thing as we are at the moment, if one day someone else wants to move in then I say go for it, then we can all just go fishing...
