Here are some upcoming events:
We're probably all aware of the World Police and Fire Games by now, but there is also a conference and trade exhibition on 13th - 16th March.
http://www.2007wpfg.com/conference/conference.cfm (http://www.2007wpfg.com/conference/conference.cfm)
Also some Fire Protection Association events for those interested in changes to fire sprinkler standards, hazmat and the Fire Australia 2007 conference. Deadline for abstracts is April 13. If you're anything like me then at such exhibitions (as well as at stationary suppliers) I'm like a kid in a candy store. Plus it's a fine excuse to go to the Burswood resort in Perth :-D

I'm there on Friday :-(
What info stand are you gonna be manning blue :?
I'll be in a big marquis somewhere! :-D
You're of royal blood Blue?
My my, there are many strings to your bow.
From here on 'Lady Blue'!
I too will be at the field days on Friday. It's not a very big area. Surely it can't be that hard to spot a fellow firey! What if we agreed on a secret method of recognition?
Something discrete. How 'bout walking backwards?
Im gonna be there too  just look out for a safety green hat with an ACRM SA logo printed on it :-D
Tally ho Sir Littlejohn, I do mean marquee.
I do archery too, so there are also actual strings on my recurve longbow.
Walking backwards it shall be, let the word spread throughout the land.
By decree, Lady Blue.

Ummmm pip the Lucindale Field days is held at Yakka Park which is about the size of the Lakes Village Shopping Centre if not bigger cause theres going to be over 600 stands there
Its like a mini city cause they will have a free bus service which takes people around the field day and drops them off at the stands they want to look at, plus theres motorized gopher hires for people who dont want to walk

There might have been a little irony in that comment Pip. It is only around 5ha or so though. It's just all those damn tents & people they stick on it which makes life difficult.
I know how big it is...I have walked around it over the last 4 years... beucase of teh size of the area, and more so , the number of stands, and the number of people, trying to find one person in that space is not an easy task!!
Pip
How about a secret sign (hand signal), like the Van Buerin boys (see Seinfeld)..lol.
so what is it besides a day at Lucindale? and a feild day??
G'day Mel,
The field days are an expo sort of thing for most things farming related.
Lots of exhibitors from service industry stuff (consultants, Govt Departments, Elders, Landmark etc), tools, equipment, tractors, vehicles & machinery.
If you want to setup a farm, you'll be able to get everything from socks to a truck, and the finance to buy the lot. You could probably get the farm too.
http://www.southeastfielddays.com.au/
A pretty successful way to get a few cheap tools, sore feet & sunburnt. Also tend to spend half the day walking into people I've not seen for a while.
We might as well set up a portable fire tower
Didn't see anyone at the SE Field Days walking backwards nor was offered any secret handshakes
Combined emergency services display was well attended - I think its about time we all donated some updated photos to CFS for their display. Some groovy eighties fashion goin on there...
well they only have to ask and there are lots of members who just love to take a photo or two when out and about.....
This Sunday May 20 there will be an emergency services display/event in Mount Gambier from 10-2pm. It is in the Cave Gardens and City Hall featuring all the local Emergency Services.
Yeah, come and see Blue dressed in a gas tight suit...

Release of toxic gas inside the suit is no problem, as I'm wearing BA :-)
I will be there with the kids, wife can go shopping and leave us boys to look over things.....

Nah, they are in BA too. And no one should be standing downwind of the incident anyway, so I think no one will ever know if you did :-D
So next time i want to fart i shall go put BA on then get a gas tight suit (so I would have to do HAZMAT) put the suit on. And then last i can FART. After which i shall absorb myself in cleaning my BA Set and by the time that is done i shall most likely need to art again. :| :-D
Sounds like a lot of work Blue
The expo sucked to put it lightly....unless things started to get exciting after i left.
where was ya camo??? the MFS had fun shame there where no CFS appliances on hand to promote the CFS.............

I understand SES were putting on a display. PR equipment from Adelaide was requested, but could not make it due to various reasons.
Did SES make it ?

Yeah, SES were there, inside the town hall building with MFS, Neighbourhood Watch, CFS, Anglican Community Care, etc etc. I think SES had a mock incident or something at Port Mac today too, so they had no appliances at the Expo. CFS stand was good I thought, our whinge about photos must have gotten through
C'mon Camo, whereis your community spirit?!? It was the first one and done in really awful weather, I think it has really good potential. A bit more signage would have been good as no one knew we were all inside the building. Plus everyone is still hungover from the Races :-) If nothing else, it would have been fun to watch me line dancing and doing muscle poses in a gas tight suit.
Well yeah i didnt know there was stuff inside the hall.... oh well.
I went down to port mac to there field day and had good fun.

Now if I knew that was going on, I would have put aside all other committments and braved Mt Gambier.
be careful guys, hicksflat might get offended about us talking about something after it happened...
Should have had a debrief about that fart blue...
Dont forget this sunday is the Launch of REX HALLS book at ONE TREE HILL FIRE station at 2pm(ithink its 2pm) will be a good time to take some happy photos as rexy has a surprise up his sleve that I am sure some people will be happy to see and take a great photo of our history all under the one roof......
why choose to release the book at one tree hill?
someone needs to write a book about our brigade....oh thats right, no one knows our brigade history...
Because One Tree Hill is where Rex started...and then the book release at Willalooka was because Rex was a member there for 20 years, and then at Naracoorte because that is where is is now...

A joint CFS / CFA group training day will take place on Sunday the 14th October 2007 at the kybybolite football club. The day will see crews respond to four execrises in and around the KYBY fire district. There will be a display and talk over lunch on a fireking and new CFA tanker that will be there. There will be some 20 appliances made up from Naracoorte CFS group,Apsley CFA group and Edenhope CFA group. The day will test both group communication plans for that area as well as test the crews in a number of areas. This would be a good chance for some photo taking and if you need more information please PM me.

A joint CFS / CFA group training day will take place . . . . .
Three or so of these days will take place along the border this year.
The one Bill mentions for Naracoorte Group, one near Donovans/Nelson (I think, certainly somewhere adjacent to the Mt Gambier/Pt Mac Group), and another for the Wattle Range Group around Lake Mundi on Nov 25th.
The latter will include as many fire fighting groups as possible - CFS, CFA, FSA, DEH, DSE etc (love my acronyms!). I hope the forest industry brigades are included, but am unsure.
Exercises on cross-border comms, plumbing between trucks, and forestry hose lay will be covered.
I think it will be a very worthwhile day.
I hope to get along to one of these this year fred was saying it should be fun and will also show what other service's have or don't have, will be a great day also to take some photos.....
