Where have you been to fight fires in the state

I joined the fire service in 1979.
I am interested to hear where people have been to fight fires etc.
Ash Wednesdays,
Interstate deployment,
Overseas,
Anywhere in the state.

Been to Tulka (Pt Lincoln), Flinders Ranges, Malalla, Adelaide hills.

Work has stopped me going on a lot but been to SE, KI, Mid North.

no interstates for me yet, maybe one day, but not terribly botheres, theres been plenty of local action lately

Black Hill,Ash Wednesday 1980 & 1983,Sydney 2000/2001,Rapid Bay,Marble Hill,KI,Karoonda etc and probably many more to come yet :wink:

Ash Wednesday 83
3 at Deep Creek Park.Delamere.Cape Jervis
Mt Brown (above Pt Augusta).in 96
Tooperang near Mt Compass 97
floods 93 .riverland.......and langhorne crk
Pt Lincoln 2001
East Victoria 2003

and many strike teams in Adelaide hills over the years

And the list goes on.

Maybe I should have asked where we have not been.
We get older,smarter and wiser, yet we still say yes.

People would put their hands up for more if they didnt call everyone in and make them sit around for hours and do nothing,instead of using the resources they requested when they got there.
Strike Teams are a requested resource requiring immediate response and action on the fireground :-)

Yes. I agree. And it seems to be getting worse. Just got back from Waikerie. Deployed for Port Elliot at 3am. Arrived 7.30am. Sent to fire ground and sat under a tree till 4pm. Got 1st feed at 4.45pm and used 500 litres of water for the day. 10 litre was for washing hands to eat. Day 2 deployed 7.30 am and sat under tree till 6pm. Returned to Waikerie by 7.30pm. 500 lites water used for complete deployement

Watch out sitting under that tree it might get hit by lightning :lol:

Its a joke isnt it,and what are these IMT teams thinking when they drag all these resources in and hardly use them.

Well I was in CFA in 83 so ASH WED's and have been to many large fire's while in the service there... Since joining cfs some 7 years ago.    (1)  KI  (2) Victoria high country (3) that park north of us twice(4) many border trips to help our local cfa brigade's

talking of Cox Scrub fire, anyone find a green CFS baseball cap...?? I seemed to have misplaced Mine..might been near the portable dam or staging area on hill above it
