CFS Polo shirts
« on: November 28, 2006, 01:22:58 PM »
Can someone please refresh my memory. What is the guideline regarding colour(s), logo and names on CFS polo shirts?
I have contacted a few suppliers, all of which have different answers.

CFS was talking about introducing a standard color/design for both polo shirts and t-shirts. Just talk I believe and nothing has really been dicided yet.

I know a standard has been set for cadets, not sure about anything else tho.
Will try to find out. Prehaps it's in the mysterious uniform manual!!

i reckon that was 3 or 4 years ago.

as far as i know the star is out of the question but as in colour i dont think there is a requirement.  We got ours from fire & rescue and the choice was green/grey or blue - or any colour if we wished.

Although there was an attempt to stop the use of the star - there is nothing in writing that prevents it's use. I know there a few companies that have officially been given the nod to produce the star on blue and green polo tops. PM me for details

AS I understand it, Stewart & Heaton clothing are the only company who can do the Star on the shirts.....but they don't do any other embroidery.

So if you want something written on the shirt, you have to take it elsewhere to get that done.

Generally, Stewart & Heaton (one of the official CFS uniform suppliers) has a number of T-shirts in stock, so when you order them, you don't have to wait for them to be embroidered...

PS I don't work for Stewart & Heaton - I just had to buy some CFS T-shirts recently!   :-)

Tell them all to stick it.

We are in the process of making our own logo that represents our brigade specifically so that we don't have to go through all this stuff. Then we can get it printed wherever we want and whenever we want.

This was the case but it is no longer. It is official that there is no policy preventing the use of the star by brigades.

It is a confirmed fact the Brigades are having shirts produced right now with the star by local small businesses.

That's interesting, because in the last few months I chased up a number of companies, who all told me that they could no longer produce garments with the Star, unless a specific exemption was granted for those particular garments, for that particular order....   :|

This issue was chased by a CFS volunteer (owns a clothing company) who took it to Regional Commanders and the Chief. It was discovered that although a policy change was proposed none was ever made official.

Just to clear things up Regional Duty Officer advised me that permission needs to be obtained to use the logo.

Spoke to FARA - basically they will do anything we like.

Spoke to S&H - Bottle green polo only, Star only, Brigade name only.

This is not the case...There may be a prevailing popular belief that permission is required but don't be trodden on.

You can use the Star - The decision came from the chief

SAFirey said the "logo" (which is the yellow one).  As you say Mr Frog, you don't need permission for the star.  (PS. we got our polo shirts, with star, from Trims (cos of price!))
