QuoteURGRES will soon be here.. they where testing it the other day....

Linc24p mentioned that in the CFS FAQ thread...
Anyone know why they want it?

Sounds like another keyword like CFSRES and URGMSG?

TillerMan

Don't know all that much about it but i think it has alot to do with the new decoders in stations.

E.G if a page is sent to our brigade with CFSRES the pagers just go off and not much else happens........ however if a page is sent with URGRES (i thought it was actually URGMSG but could be wrong) then the siren sounds.

bittenyakka

well I am not sure because no matter weather we get MFS:Respond , SHQ or any others the door and siren operate on their own agendas.

medevac

URGMSG is the current key used to set off doors and sirens...

im not sure where this idea od URGRES has come from... i cant see apoint in having another one.

Maybe the MFS dont like "CFSRES"?
Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you.

medevac

gettin a bit precious are they??? lol

why not MFSRES just too be special

Tone7

all i can say is that when SES went to MFS Comm Cen i notice a test being done by DAIS with URGRES i did send a test page to my pager with it and it did set tone 7 off...

Since then i tried it and it didnt set tone 7 off..  dunno what they where doing... someone else much of seen it other than me.

medevac

URGMSG and CFSRES both currently and have since the GRN paging system was used by CFS set of tone 7...

Robert-Robert34

i can remember when the paging messages used to be like

SOC: Respond
     Kalangadoo Station
     CFSRES

But i think that URGMSG will get alot more peoples attention rather than having SHQ at the start of a response message having URGMSG will be even better as the sirens can be set off automatically rather than manually

Robert the SHQ will be at the start of the message because thats the origin of the page the URGRES/CFSRES is just the code for setting of certain tones/sirens.

Learn something new everyday ! - I was unaware that pagers could actively Sync - eg. remote updating/changing of programming to enable different prefixes to set of the tones/bells.

So since URGRES set off tone 7, it now only sets off the normal tone? ... Soon the pagers will be able to tuck us in at night !

Tone7

Under the impression that a pager can be shut down remotely. but cant be programmed remotely... which is a pitty would make life easy.

when you think about it...  the pager is decoding the data message that is sent out over the Data channel... so  yeah... cant see why they wouldnt be able to brin in a new trigger for tone 7..

i could be wrong.

That'd be a rather nice change from waking me up at night ;)

There seems to be a large amount of confusion in this thread:

The pager messger:

SHQ: *CFSRES: PENOLA RESPOND FUSE BOX FIRE IGA 23 AURTUR STREET PENOLA BEHIND THE SHOP < 3/11/2006 17:20:15
MFS: RESPOND GRASS FIRE 03/11/06 17:18,BARCELONA RD,NOARLUNGA DOWNS, MAP 186 C 16 ,,,8334 8124 431*CFSRES:

These are from two different sources.

The SHQ: or MFS: at the beggining of the page simply shows from where it originates. It has nothing to do with what service (CFS/MFS/SES) is responded. Then the second most important part the *CFSRES:. This triggers Tone 7 on the pager, as well as activating doors/lights/sirens at the station. Some brigades use *URGMSG: as well as other services:

OH181 Crew Welfare Check URGMSG

RescueHazmat

No confusion..

I think the question is the claim that URGRES may now be in the picture / being brought into response paging... (Instead of URGMSG , or as well as it)..

That is the question this topic has tried to raise from the beginning and wheather anyone has any answers.

I think you can safely assume all the speculation posted in this thread is, umm, erroneous (hmm perhaps that applies more widely than this thread too!).  For the facts, see the FAQ thread.

Pipster

So those who have been testing the URGRES & MFSRES and VFRRES  :?  tonight - did any of it work?

(You should know that you can't keep messages on the GRN pager system a secret....)
There are three types of people in the world.  Those that watch things happen, those who make things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Tone7

LOl yeah i hear a new one
*Dont wake me up god damm you

heheheheh

No other codes worked.. this testing only happened for a couple of hrs when SES went over to mfs comm's.  Dunno what DAIS was thinking about the idea... and havent seen it since.

Chirp / Vibrate

The only two codes that the pager reads to activate tone 7, siren, lights, doors etc. are *CFSRES: and *URGMSG:

These codes are hard coded into the initial programming of the pager. For any other code to work your pager would have to be sent back to the factory to be reprogrammed.

URGRES does nothing and was probably a typo or ignorance.
