Easy way to get around people not slowing down..

Close the road...if they cant play by the rules then we will take our bat and ball and go home!

a police officer has been killed by a car at a rotine traffic stop in NSW today.  maybe now the speed will be looked at, usually takes something like that for a change to occur.

Unfortunately, it usually does take a tragedy for something to be changed.

It should be noted, however, that NSW does not have any speed restrictions past emergency vehicles.  SA was the first state to bring it in and I don't believe any other state has legislated it (I could be wrong there).

Even though it may not be as slow as it should be and definitely not adhered to very well on roads like freeways and highways, at least we have some measure of protection in place, unlike the other states...

A police officer has died after being struck by a car on the state's Central Coast yesterday.

About 6.45pm police were conducting a radar operation north along the F3 freeway at Somersby when a car struck a police officer.

The 41-year-old senior constable, who is attached to Highway Patrol in the Brisbane Water Local Area Command, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Gosford Hospital where he later died.

He was knocked down by a 4WD who had apparently been shunted from behind by another vehicle

RIP

VFBA currently have a proposal to modify s83 of the Road Traffic Act for the speed limit past an emergency vehicle to be reduced to 25 K/mh

If its good enough for roadworkers to have the 25 zone, we should be afforded the same right as well

What's the point 40 is quite slow enough but people don't do that.
All 25 will do is make the inevitable "rear-enders" worse.

If they want to rear end themselves thats there problem

If the limit is reduced to 25 it will make our job alot safer when working around traffic.  And if the Cops got off their asses and did their job then everyone would obey the law!

the state gov rejected it becoues our lives arent worth saving saying that our lives arent good enough and its cheaper to replace firefighters.
we save lives, we breath smoke, we eat ash, why do we do it? cos it's a way of life for us that we have chosen to take

That is just insulting by saying fire fighters are cheaper & easier to replace  i mean we put a life on the line every day of the year just like MFS does

You can replace property and goods but you cant replace a human life
