HI all..

i have recently moved up from cadets to a ff and have been wearing the cadet uniform (proban) to call-outs while i have been waiting for my nomex to arrive, the only problem is now the cadet cordinator is chucking a hissy fit because i got his cadet uniform dirty. Does anyone know the best way to get proban gear clean??

cheers Pixie

Does the station have a washing machine?

Pipster

It's proban.  It never comes clean.  It makes you look like you've done some work!!

There are three types of people in the world.  Those that watch things happen, those who make things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Follow the washing instructions?

Give it back to the cadet leader tell him he should have given you new gear when you became a member of the senior brigade and tell him to wash it....

I have been told a cold wash no soap gets it a bit cleaner.

if you are wating for Nomex does that menat that everyone should have a set of nomex. my brigade only has Nomex for BA waiting for PBI and everyone else has Proban.

I've been told a couple of weeks soaking in White King or similar cleans it up nicely...
Also, don't use your own washing machine - wreck someone else's... like the laundrymats...

Dont use white king as it will attack the proban,as for nomex my understanding is that proban is to be replaced with nomex for all rural jobs....

thanks for the replies,

I am from seaford, we are an urban brigade, and only the cadets wear proban, i soaked it in nappysan overnight and it has come up a bit cleaner, i now plan to give it to him and tell him to give it to the next cadet who is moving up so that their uniform stays yellow.

I was going to suggest Napisan but you beat me to it :-D

Tell him to get a grip,we would all love to have our gear go back to yellow when we wash it

What gets me is some members can get a 2nd pair just for PR work yet the rest of us struggle to get a new set of PPE because ours is >>>>> damaged <<<<<.

I heard that proban was for grassies/bushfires and PBI was for everything else, nomex is no longer to be supplied.

Thats what what was going round when PBI came out.

All i know is that we have recently (monday) recieved 2 sets of NOMEX, and are still waiting for another 2. All our BA operators have both PBI and NOMEX.

The only proban gear in our station is the cadet stuff.
