ozfire.org is not for politics, it is a forum for fire photography.

or back to the sacfs yahoo group or just host this site anonymously offshore.  It's a bit odd though (seems like king canute), I'd like to see on what grounds, if it's true.

Unfortunately it has happened before with other internet forums, with pressure being placed on the administrators.

If the pager message is serious, then what has upset the hierarcy ?

My personal suggestion is that if we have offended the hierarchy of SASES or CFS or MFS or SAAS, then tell us. We know people are reading the postings, but not commenting.

Some of the postings are rubbish. Some are good constructive critism which should be acknowledged has a genuine request by volunteers for more information & used for improvement (eg inter-service capabilities).

If a front-line volunteer does not get factual, direct  information from hierarchy, then they will find the information via rumour lines or other means. The Internet just provides a larger, quicker way to get that information.

If someone does close down a way of finding information, then another method will pop up until the information void is filled.

I would have thought the fact they mis-spelled 'Euan' would have been a good indication it was a hoax. Ah well you guys took the bait hook line and sinker.

stooging ahoy!

i think forums are a good place where you can say whatever you want (besides swearing!). You come here to vent your spleen in a casual environment, not dispatch serious press releases. I come on here for fun, general info and occasionally, a little disagreement. nothing else.

either way, I think we got clowned!

Because most CFS/SES members can send a pager message - hence it being displayed on the pager site.

It appears to be a bit of fun by persons unknown. Don't let it bother you :-D

Have a look at your pager sites.....anyone can page anything with the right gear, and the right know how.     :-)

And just because something went out on a pager doesn't make it true, correct or factual....you have to look at when it was sent, and who it was sent to.......and often it helps if you know the in joke......

We have a whole topic on this forum dedicated to amusing pager messages....do we really take all of them seriously?

Pip

i would suggest someone has just got the exact reaction they were after... lol

firstly, why would you conduct such business at that time of night? secondly i would think SOCC would know how to spell euan... and also, the message didnt originate in SOCC  (although the prefix does imply this).. .SOCC messages display seconds also in the time stamp at the end, just look at any SIGINC msg....

its the little details that count...

but as someone already stated, apparently its a joke... lol

Well if you look at the stats; yesterday we had the most people sign up of any day previously (5), the most new topics started in one day this month (6), and yesterday and today were the most posts in one day this month (105 and 106+)....

If it was an inside job, it had the desired impact :P
