How would swearing make things any better? In my humble opinion, swearing makes a post look tacky, and in a lot of cases removes credibility of any argument or idea being put forward.

Readers here are an articulate bunch, so isn't it relatively easy to find ways around those words anyway?

It's how it is used that makes it swearing. If you are using it in a sentence talking about it as a place, then it is just a word. But when you use it and say "OH **** " then that is IMO swearing.
