A few years...  hehehehe... And the rest !  :P

Believe it was caused by static electricity ??

That would have to have been at least 12-13 years ago now.

i see the manny name is sticking well!

hmm, sounds as though it was a good one. i agree with manny, some photgraphic evidence would be good.

I have seen the video, i think every time the airport tenders leave the airport they screw up the tyres because they are such a soft compound.

corecutters

^^ That is correct.  They are made of soft rubber compound as to not damage the runway, and are ideal for the runway / surrounding tarmac and soft grass.  Hacked to pieces by the lovely Adelaide Roads.

here is some pics of a tanker fire in SA, i don't know if it is the same ones as talked about above because it said that it was on port wakefield road.

i can say these are not the photos of the job you are thinking of.

From memory the fire occurred on Australia Day sometime in the mid 80's, it was at the Ampol (now Caltex) on Brighton Road at Brighton.

The tanker was unloading unleaded fuel when a static electricity charge ignited the vapors, I believe three of the four compartments in the fuel tanker were breached when the fire occurred.

I happened to be driving past it about 2 mins after the fire took hold, no firies or police on scene at that stage. The flames and heat had already ignited the brush fence on the other side of the road when we went past.

We've got the vision from news stories at the station on a VHS, always good to put on occasionally and see what a 'real' fire looks like.

Either very late 80's or early 90's!

From memory CFS did change of quarters all over the place and I think both eden Hills and Belair attended the incident - although not sure if they saw action or were there on standby!

The airport tender did respond - due to it's hight quantities of foam and foam generation - to have it leave Adelaide Airport Police escort was required front and rear as it is exceeds limits for width on public roads!

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to control it.

i was in year 1 i think.....scheiße thats a long time ago...

which makes it about 1991 i think

Isn't it funny how over time peoples memories blur. What I have read here is not how I remember it, and I was on the second arrival appliance.

These were photos taken by Dr Steve Schueler.
Good photos, some good looking fireman in some of those shots.
